i am an older man but do not look decrepit.
when in bkk i frequently ride the skytrain during periods of heavy use.

Thai good manners
Re: Thai good manners
In general I find most Thai's well mannered. It tends to be the hi-so's or wannabe hi-so's that have a distinct lack of manners probably because they feel superior to others. You are always going to encounter some bad manners but far less here than in western 'civilised' countries.

I was in Tops Supermarket the other day and was going to buy a new toothbrush but there were 2 Thai restockers laughing and peeling and eating grapes and blocking the entire section of toothbrushes so I didn't buy a new toothbrush.
And I see 60-70+ year old farangs standing in the Skytrains all the time.

I call it respect for their elders - a trait that most Thais excel in.

Here in the US, People do not have any concern to this. But i would say it is the matter of good upbringing and the family values a person is filled with. There are good and bad people all over.
