Immigration on the move?

Post by Big Boy »

A friend has just told me:
Immigration are moving in the middle of June to soi 19 just past Index and then a road off that.
Has anybody else know any more?

It makes sense because the car par will soon become a road.

I have to go there on Tuesday, so if nobody else confirms for certain before, I will ask.

I think they used the old Thonburi Hospital, behind INDEX for a few weeks after they moved from Soi 102 and just prior to moving in to where they are now, so maybe that’s where they are going.

A move has been in process since one of the owners of the restaurant, and I presume the building, passed away over a year ago. I just hope that they find someplace with parking better than the old hospital.

Yes, parking is going to be a nightmare, I was talking with a few guys last night about the old hospital and just amazed at how they managed in such a small space and the fact that we had all been there at one time or other to get patched up from various misadventures of youth.

I went to immigration this morning (I'll give an update on what happened elsewhere), but there is a map showing where they are moving to, which is down at Rai 19 and it looks as though there will be ample parking there. It is scheduled for the 25th June, but the immigration officer I spoke to said about then, meaning it might be after, but not before.

What I was looking for as I need to go there before the 15th. Never been before, always went to Jomtien near Pattaya before.

Does immigration get busy on opening like in Pattaya. I am not in a rush so happy to go afternoon if it is more relaxed.

When I went back to Imm for the second time today after visiting the bank in HH, I arrived about 9.30 and unbelievably there was not a single customer being served or in the queue, so I went straight to the officer who I had seen at 8.30 when I was customer number 5. Commenting about the lack of "customers" the officer said it gets busier in the afternoon.

Thanks for the info, sounds like a 0930 visit is a good time. I know it is also low season. When I lived in Pattaya I used to go in early December, it was like Piccadilly circus, horrendous.

Thanks again.

I was there on Friday and there was a sign outside saying they are moving soon to Hua-Hin Soi 35. There was also a map and a picture but I never really paid much attention but I typically have always tried to avoid using the immigration department here. I must say however, Friday's encounter was a pleasure. It seems to me that some of the old staff have been replaced since I was last there.

[Mod Edit] onlychaam has requested that we remove the content of his post as he does not wish to share the information with Hua Hin Forum members.

Instructions on how to find Hua Hin Immigration are below with our own photographs in place.

I will start with a map and aerial photograph:
Map+Photo.png
The previous instruction was lacking because it only catered for those coming from the North, and would have resulted in a significant detour for those travelling from the South. Therefore, we will provide directions from North and South.

From the North

Turn left at Soi 19. Easily identified by the arch over the road and the unmissable psychedelic camel.

Go to the end of that road, and you will see a sign directing you right along Soi 35. Of course, this is Thailand, and somebody has thoughtfully placed a flag in front of the sign :D .

DSC06226.jpg
Go along Soi 35 until you see the well marked entrance to the car park on your right:

Route from the North is in detail here:

From the South

Turn right at the traffic lights immediately after the palace into Soi 35
DSC06222.jpg
Go down Soi 35, with the palace on your right, and you will see a fire station in front of you where the road forks. Take the left fork and simply follow the road for quite a way until you see the entrance on your left. It is hard to mistake the entrance for anything else.

Route from the South is also shown here:
Road_Close_35.png
As you pass through the entrance, Immigration is the building diagonally to your right (not the building originally indicated by onlychaam). It is well signposted.
