new TM card

Post by lomuamart »

As of 1st Jan 2005, Thai Immigration have introduced a new arrival/departure card.
It now looks similar to a bank slip and there are a few changes.
There is more space to enter your address in Thailand. I've always put Hua Hin. Could be they want a full address.
They ask for a port of disembarkation - could be tricky if you don't know where you're going to be departing from.
They also want to know your income -annual in US dollars. This is probably the most sinister change, although I've heard of plenty of people who have left this section blank, or even writing in NOYFB. They havn't had a problem. Could be it's just for statistical TAT reasons. I havn't heard of anyone being asked to verify the amount.
The old TM card is still accepted. It'll probably take a while to filter through all immigration points.
Anyone filled one of these new ones in yet?

I filled in a new TM card last week.

The card is bigger allowing you to write rather than scrawl.
I was always told to put where you will spend your first night in the Kingdom at the address section.
For disembarkation I wrote Bangkok as that is where I arrived but I'm off to Ranong with a friend tomorrow and will probably go over to the Andaman Club as I've never been, rather than wait for him as we are then off to Samui.
I'll post on the forum if there are any headaches, about the disembarkation port.

Nothing sinister about it - I left blank the section on annual income and the immigration officer didn't bat an eyelid - it was 5am though !!

ive just been to Ranong and have recieved one of the new immigration cards amusingly enough double sided sticy taped to the counter was a pre filled in enlargement of how the immigration would like the card to be filled in , where it asks for your country of residence ,then giving a example it says London ,
although london is the capital of England and possibly one of the smallest city's in the world = 1 Square mile,or 1.65 km i am not an Einstein of the world but London is defenatley is not a country
so any body using ranong for visa runs should put for their country of residence their capital city rather than their country just to improve confussion in the immigration department( or matbee educate them )

I've done one of these new cards now. No problem.
However, next time, I'll indicate my income in the lowest category in case they think I'm a rich farang and ask for tea money.
PS. Dr Soul Monsta - London's the capital of the universe. So it definitely ranks as a country :D
