So it can be done alone, without taking the guy with you - yes?

I'm confused here.. :? :?
Can one of you tell us all very simply if, at this moment in time, when a Farang with a Non 0 visa needs a 90-day stamp in his passport..does he/she need to obtain a Myanmar entry visa (from where?..BKK??) before heading off to Phu Nam Ron??
Or can we only obtain a 90-day 'visa stamp' by using the afore-mentioned 'agent/taxi-man' in Kan'buri..?
Can I myself with passport in my pocket, plus 900B fee still drive up there as I did in May..??
If the answer to this is a big NO..can I still drive to the Andaman Club for my 'stamp' as we've all
done for yrs now..without a Myanmar entry visa..?? Many thanks in advance..

Thank you for that Rocker..good to know there's still an alternative to the long drive to Ranong..(always costs me more going south.. 'cos the wife likes to come also..that means a hotel for the night). Driving steady, plus a meal-stop takes me about 3+half hrs to P.N.R.
Don't see your 'visa day' as a PIA..see it as a day out.. Thanks again Rocker.

A friend is on a double entry 'Tourist' visa and has been informed by Immigration that he has to leave and return to get stamped back in. Do you think he could use this service as he doesn't really want to fly out and return.

By the sound of things, he could use the above service or cross at any border point to activate his second entry. The only requirement is that he exits the country and gets entry and exit stamps from another country. There's no need to fly out and back unless he wants to.
I assume he has extended his first entry (or will do). An extra 30 days for 1,900 THB so it's almost 3 months from arrival in Thailand before he needs to do the border run.

Thanks, it looks like that will suit him nicely

I don't quite get it. Why pay 220+2500 instead of renting a car for ~600b and driving yourself? Is this guy providing anything other than the ride? If so, what is it?

A friend of mine has a dual entry 60 day visa. He is wondering if he crosses at Phu Nam Ron on foot does he need a Myanmar visa prior to crossing or do they issue a temporary visa. Also as he has the dual entry 60 day visa for Thailand will there be any additional cost on the Thai side.

Thanks
Craig

visa run to Kanchanaburi

Post by Jimth1 » Thu Jan 08, 2015 3:18 pm

Just returned from Kanchanaburi visa run. Rented a taxi from Hua Hin for the 3 hour drive to the Bridge on river Kwai. Met Mr. Day who arranged a border run to Burma as a complete package. My taxi waited for me at the bridge, Mr. Day took me and another farang to the Burmese border, walked out of Thailand via immigration, to a waiting car what drove us about 200 feet, driver collected our passports, returned in 5 minutes with the entry and exit visa from Burma, drove back 200 feet to Thai immigration where we obtained our 90 day visa. Mr. Day drove us back to the bridge to the waiting taxi to take me back to Hua Hin. Mr. Day charged 1800 baht for the complete package. His people filled out our exit and reentry documents. I never did see a Burmese immigration official. The whole process took about an hour and 30 minutes, from the bridge and return to the bridge. The most efficient process I have ever experienced for a visa run. Would never consider Ranong again. Mr. Day has a website with complete info.

I did the same on my own wheels one time, did not need anybody to go to the Burmese immigration office and it was quite easy.

Hi Jim

I would def be interested in using Mr Day. Can you confirm the whole process including the taxi from Hua Hin and paying Mr day was !800 baht?

Please can you either post his contact details or Send me a message. You need to make 10 posts before you can message.

Thanks

Took the mini-van from market village to Kanchanaburi on Friday morning, arranged to meet the taxi/tour guide at the bus terminal. From here he took me to the Thai border where Immigration stamped me out, then
another guy drove me out approximately 4 KM to the Myanmar border, took my passport for a few minutes,
returned and drove back to Thai immigration to activate my 2nd 60 day visa entry .then back to the bus terminal and home.A very smooth process and a nice change from the tedious journey to Ranong.

On either Feb 7th or 8th I will be driving to Phu Nam Rong for my 'visa stamp'.. I will be driving straight to the Imm. post, then back again..so if anyone needs to go on either of these dates we could split fuel costs..
