Certificate of residence

Post by caller »

Sorry, another dumb question.

Now, I have got these in the past, but from Korat. And I can't recall what I needed to get them. And my circumstances were different then in any case.

Okay, I have downloaded the relevant form for immigration, but I'm damned if I can find what the supporting evidence is that I need?

I know passport and that I can get pics there, my COA has been notified to immigration by my other half and is now on their records and a copy pinned in my passport.

Anything else?

Thanks.

Right, I got my certificate of residence earlier, required for renewing my driving license. For the sake of completeness and to help anyone who hasn't yet done this, here's what I did -

Downloaded the form from here - it's number 36.

https://www.immigration.go.th/download/

I completed the form in words then printed it off, signed it and attached two passport photographs.

I photocopied the following from my passport:

Identity page of passport
Date permitted to stay
COA slip (to Hua Hin) stapled into passport
Departure card

I also took a photo copy of my other half's ID card (not signed and dated as she is away)

I obviously took my passport as well as the Blue book (not needed, not looked at).

I went to the office dealing with such applications, handed everything over, paid my 500 baht 'fee', waited outside while they dealt with everything and a few minutes later, the door opened and I was handed the certificate along with my returned passport.

One curious thing, when I handed over the completed application I was asked whether I was going to renew my license at Cha am or Pranburi and this was added to my application. I dont know if that has made its way onto the actual certificate?

They always ask that, so once you have it, you are committed. However, some friends decided to use Cha-Am when Pranburi said no, and Immigration changed the letter free of charge.

Okay, thanks for that - they never asked that in Korat, where I got my last residents cert when buying my truck. Maybe there wasn't a choice?

I got my residence cert in Hua Hin, and when asked to choose a DLT office, I chose Cha Am. However, I ended up using the DLT in Khon Kaen of all places, and no one there cared that it said Cha Am.

All I needed for my residence cert was a rental contract, passport, and 2 photos.

Not everyone has a rental agreement. I just like to go forearmed. In effect, I got mine with passport, 2 photos and photocopy of other half's ID. It was my first experience at HH, so went with all the stuff needed at Korat. In fact at Korat, I needed a letter from my other half confirming I was living at her address.

Hello
Can anybody advise me as how to get a cert of residence ( from thai immigration@ Hua Hin ) without being in the country for 90 days prior to application ??
Is there an agent that can facilitate this ??
I wish to get my Irish driving licence converted to a Thai licence/ apply for Thai licence - And I wish to purchase a car ( and finance part of same. )

( I don't want the hassle of another overnight trip to my embassy in bkk ,and I have been told for car finance a Thai immigration cert is preferred over an embassy cert )

I got my Thai Elite 'PE' visa stamped into my passport at chang wattana this week and that's what I was told - a 90day reports needs ? To be done first
Which is troublesome for me as I may. Leave Thailand next month
Thereby resetting the 90 day rule again

Any advice gratefully appreciated

( I have not found the thai elite staff to be able to think outside the box so far when I have asked them questions )

Cheers

Have you tried asking at HH immigration for the cert of residence or the police station without your 90 days stamp ? Not sure if police station still do them but they used to.

Hi
Can it be done without a 90 day stamp then ??

I got different answers to this at chang wattana

( it seems ridiculous( to me ) to require one )

I will try both tomorrow -nothing to loose
Thanks

you will find that at each immigration center you will receive a different answer to the same question. Welcome to Thailand, the land of everything backwards, where the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing and thinking is not a requirement.

So both immigration and the police station refused?

I actually have not been there yet ( I am stuck out in Kasetsart Veterinary all morning with dog that needs sudden surgery )
I was stopped on the way there by the police who happily took 500 from me but could not confirm if they issue a cert of residence Or not

So prob more confusion at immigration
Hence my request for a visa agent in Hua Hin that possibly may be able to get it done

Any names you could recommend ??

Thanks

There's a few on Facebook advertising retirement visas, overstays cleared etc but not sure if they are based in Hua Hin.
