Retirement extension Foreign Currency Account ?
Retirement extension Foreign Currency Account ?
I will need to put 800K into my Thai Bank account to apply for a retirement extension visa. Does anyone know if Hua Hin immigration allow a Foreign Currency Deposit Account with a Thai Bank to be used as proof of finances.
Re: Retirement extension Foreign Currency Account ?
I'm not sure about that type of account. Hopefully, others can confirm or not.
The main criterion will be whether you can access your funds immediately. Imm want to see that. So, for instance, various types of long term savings accounts that require you to give notice of any withdrawals are not acceptable.
If no-one else can give reliable information, I'd just pop round to Imm late on one day and ask them. OK, it's another trip there but it shouldn't take too long if you time your visit correctly.

No, I was told that it has to be in Thai Baht. You can use a term deposit account in Thai Baht, and it does not have to be accessible. That is what I use and have done so for the last 10 years. Just be aware of the qualifying time of 3 months.

Yes.
I have a 'Savings Foreign CurrencyDeposit Account' with Bangkok Bank. The Bank will give you a letter confirming the amount calculated in Thai Baht for use at Immigration. Make sure yo have a little extra in the account to allow for currency fluctuation.

Well, there you go then. Ask 10 different people and get 10 different answers. Do what Lomuamart has suggested, but then hope that the officer that told you it is acceptable is the boss on the day that you go to do it!
Have on small thing wrong with your paper work and I guarantee: "it needs to be in Thai Baht Sir"!
