Non-O visa from UK consulate

Post by Procyon » Wed Jul 19, 2017 8:46 pm

I've stayed in Thailand on a non-o visa before and extended in Hua Hin. This time I need to get one before I go.

Does anyone have any current experience getting a marriage visa from a consul in the UK? (I have read the embassy website but these things change every ten minutes).

What did they want in terms of docs/finances (copies or original) and can it be done by post?

Thx.

Hi Procyn
Got one last week from Liverpool, Docs needed marriage certificate, copy of wifes ID card both sides. No finance documents requested.
They need two days to get approval from London?
Emailed coppies to Liverpool collected the visa three days latter.

Thanks for the reply. Really, that easy?

Original or copy marriage cert?

How long did they give you 90 days or a year?

Hi Procyon, I am also in the process of applying for a 'O' visa. I did call the thai consulate in Hull and was told that only the London Thai embassy now deal with O visas.
All documents have to he posted with recorded mail or appointments have to he made which cost extra.

I read the feedback from bonbon and was pleasantly surprised to see that the relavent visa could be acquired in Liverpool. I didn't know that.

Hi Procyon
If you only need a single entry visa, the Liverpool consulate is the easiest. Only email copies along with the visa form and make an appointment to collect.
If you need a multi-entry visa then you have to post to the London embassy.

Sorry you have to call 01482581668 to make an appointment and they then give you an email address to send the form and documents.

Thanks for that info, I only need a single re-entry permit, but I want more than 90 days validity so will probably have to cough up the 125 quid.

I'll give that number a call nearer the time. As usual with visas its as clear as mud.

Just done this so will post my findings for reference. Dont like posting my passport so went in person.

Went to the embassy in Queens Gate, London at about 10.45. No appointment, no need to phone ahead.
Took a ticket, was next in line, total waiting time; 4 minutes.

Documents required:
Visa application form
Passport
2x photos
Copy of marriage certificate (the back also)
Copy of wife's ID card
Copy of wife's passport
UK bank statement (balance not specified)

Approved in less than two minutes, no extra copies in triplicate, no bullshit questions, no maps, no photos of you together, no witnesses, no letters from the amphur, no letters from banks, no blue or yellow books, no rental contracts, no other proof of address ... no Hua Hin !!!

Cost 125 gbp (5,340 thb). Non-imm O, 1 year, multi entry visa. Returned the next day to collect the passport.

Can you please confirm:

No proof was required ref husbands OA Visa (if this is what the O visa was in relation to)
The type of ID card that was required.
No notarization of marriage certificate required
No medical cert required

Hope I have as smooth a run. Well done and thanks

Hi,
This was based on marriage to a Thai so not sure how 'husband's visa' would apply, mine had expired when I applied.
Thai ID card of wife required (copy).
No notorisation of Thai marriage cert (but needed copy of front and back).
No medical cert.

Was real easy compared to doing it in Thailand, the only drawback is having to leave every 90 days but I'd take that over dealing with huahin immigration any day!. Good luck.
