Hi,
Looking at coming to Hua Hin for a 4/5 days end of May - part of a week and a bit in Thailand.
1) Whats the weather like then? Everything seems to be off season? Is it hot/rainy? Etc why is it the off season?
2) Lots of things for burned-out single guy todo? Golf? Tennis? Yoga? Snorkelling? Lying by the pool catching rays? Note: I live in Bermuda.. never been to Asia before. So, I am jaded when it comes to Beautifull beaches.
3) How far is it from bangkok?
4) What is so appealing about Hua Hin? I have contacted a bunch of travel agents, they are all pointing me to Hua Hin.. bangkok is apparantly nuts they only recommend a couple of days there?
Is there any shopping in Hua Hin?
Thanks,
Sean
Weather in May?
In quick answer, and I'm sure others will elaborate on this:
1) Hot Hot Hot
2) Golf: Lots of, Tennis: yes, Yoga: yes, Snorkelling: No (you need to go further south) , Lying by the pool: definately.
3) 2 and a half hours by road
4) Bangkok is a massive metropolis, Hua Hin is a laid back beach resort. For shopping you're better off in Bangkok.

HH is the perfect "chill-out" spot, very natural, a market town and fishing port, with enough night-life to be fun. Depends what you are shopping for in BKK but it has a lot to see and do for two or three days fascinating sight-seeing. The beaches in and around HH are generally uncrowded and the water is warm. See elsewhere on the forum for info on transfers from/to BKK, train, bus, taxi all feasible and relatively inexpensive. For a first visit to Asia, it may come as a bit of a culture-shock, but the people are really lovely. Enjoy.
