Mini Bus service HH - Chumphon?
Can anyone tell me if there is a minibus service from Hua Hin to Chumphon, and if so where is it located in HH?
Thank you,
HT

It may be rubbish - but by golly it's British rubbish.

I don't know of one.
But I don't think it would be profitable because of time and distance involved. The HH-BKK service works because one van can run 4-5 one-way trips fully loaded in a day, so maybe 50-60 fares @200 each.

There will be the usual air-con big bus service route from Bangkok to Chumphon.HuntingTigers wrote:Can anyone tell me if there is a minibus service from Hua Hin to Chumphon, and if so where is it located in HH?

To find out if it stops in Hua Hin or Pranburi ask at the bus booking office near The Boat eating place.

I'm also not aware of a minibus service that runs from HH to Chumphon.
As chopsticks says, there are regular buses there and they'll leave from the southern bus station which is located on Petchkasem Road south of Market Village.
Have a look at the link. The telephone number also works, but have a Thai speaker asking the questions.

I don't think you'll get much information on Chumphon from the HH-BKK bus station in the centre of town as they don't run the route.
Buses will take approximately 3 hours. Alternatively, there are trains which will take about 4 hours

If you take a bus, a word of warning. Make sure that it stops in the centre of Chumphon. Some of them only drop off at the bus station on the main road just south of the right turn to Ranong/Phuket. In that instance, you'll be around 6kms out of Chumphon town centre and whilst there are motorcycle taxis into town, it's pretty inconvenient, especially after dark.

You could also try a travel agent in HH. Some may they sell inter-city bus tickets.

That's true. Most decent travel agents will sell VIP bus tickets and there will almost certainly be a daily service from BKK through HH and on to Chumphon as plenty of people use it to get the ferries to Koh Tao.
Again, make sure you know where the bus drops off - ie the centre of town or the ferry terminal.

The Lomprayah bus goes from Bangkok, Hua Hin and on to Chumpon, but I don't know whether you can buy a ticket for that without going on their boat to the islands.

Re: Mini Bus service HH - Chumphon?
There are regular Thai service buses that go from the southern terminal near Market Village as lomuamart mentions. Mainly I think it is the Rayong bus that stops off en-route, so it isn't right in the centre. About 8 a day. Been on it coming from the other direction. If memory serves me it was 140 Baht, but I could be out by some on that. From HH for me, I'd definitely take the train as a preferred option, which does go pretty much to the centre.

Yes, it does look like the train is best. Many thanks to all who responded.Korkenzieher wrote:From HH for me, I'd definitely take the train as a preferred option, which does go pretty much to the centre.
I think getting the train back will be quite interesting as the only trains from Chumphon arrive after midnight - I hope I recognise the HH station at night!
