Intercontinental vs. Hua Hin
Intercontinental vs. Hua Hin
Hi Guys,
I am in the process of booking a week-long trip to Hua Hin in June. I've never been to Hua Hin and my only knowledge of the area and its hotels is from the internet.
Basically I've narrowed my choices down to these two hotels. I have the option of either a Luxury Club Room (W/ Lounge Access) at the Sofitel Centara or a Deluxe King room at the Intercontinental for approximately the same price.
Could anybody with knowledge of both hotels/the area please provide some guidance as to which they think would be the better option??
Thanks,
Liam

Not to sure where the Intercontinental is, but have stayed at the Sofitel. Is a great hotel, top location (middle of town & smack on the front of the beach). Great swimming pool. Rooms, facilities and the whole ambiance of the hotel is excellent. The grounds of the hotel are very picturesque.
Would definitely stay there again if I had the chance.

Both very good hotels-- Sofitel more central, can walk anywhere you want to go, I-C on the other hand about 2-3K out max, their beach is more private, but will need transport into town, but that is cheap and easy.

Sofitel; especially if you have lounge access as that usual means free drinks and food in the evening plus other perks.
Re: Intercontinental vs. Hua Hin
I have friends who have just spent ten days at the Intercontinental and they loved. Previously they had stayed at the Sofitel, but according to them Intercontinental facilities and beach are far superior.
Now I can’t comment on the facilities at the Intercontinental, but the beach around the Sofitel is far from ideal

IC's not too far before you get to Sport Villa - on the other side of the road.

my great choice Intercontinental is comfortably
Re: Intercontinental vs. Hua Hin
Sofitel vilas are different but very nice and better than the main hotel with breakfast around the pool etc.
The Intercontinental is like any other 5* chain hotel. Sofitel location is great for doing the rounds around the tourist area bars etc but is overshadowed by the Hilton and beach is spoilt by the vendors camped there. The club lounge service and happy hour is great just do your main dining in town and stay away from the Japanese restaurant

liam, look at the hyatt, its environment, and clean quite beachside location, and the service, put it right up there. we have done sofitel, not the intercontinental ( their steak house is brilliant though), but hyatt, is oh so picturesque, welltreed, gardened, lost of shade, great pools, servie, and so cheap to dine in, with a genuine thai feel. staff are looked after, so they look after you.LccT333 wrote:Hi Guys,
