Guess : Good reply and info thanks.

Looks like I need to leave my 'fortune' in an offshore account earning 4.5% tax free until I have enough to retire completely ?

Another 3 years in Saudi Arabia then !!

I don't expect a fortune BTW, just enough to stop me using too much capital and also to keep me occupied and out of the bar for a least a few daylight hours !!

Seems a sensible option, Pagey.
As Guess said, for every one farang that makes it here, there are 20 who don't.
Leave the capital alone.

texana wrote:Hi ! I am a swede 39 years old that plans to move to HH in Oct. Well i must have something to live on so i wonder if anyone has a business i can join ? not a bar.Right now i work at a finance dep in Sweden and have university studies in finance. I can invest max 1000000 B but i am open for everything, i also need at least a net profit after tax/year of 700000 B so i can live ok.I am planning to visit HH again in June or July. If you have anything or know someone who has please send business info to my email with pics, and financial figures to lekman762000@yahoo.se

Regards
Lars
Time effort and enthusiasm are worth a lot and if the 700000 is what you need to live on good luck, even a token investment in a business may be welcome if you have something to offer.

Ok i guess i reached to high...is about 4-500000 also impossible ? The reason i wanna join an already going business is of course that it must be easier joining someone who knows all about business in T and maybe wants to renovate or make room for more customers or something

Hey, Texana,

a person who is agrees to offer you a partnership for about 1mio. Baht, seems not to be a very successful or even trustful businessman in his past, right?
If you seriously want to earn 50% - 70% per year from your investment, try to enjoy a good time in a Casino.
The chance to win the needed money is higher more than any so-called "investment" in Thailand.

hmmm...who told you, that here is any legal business where you can earn that kind of %?

Do you really believe, that the average local foreigner businessmen are able to earn a lot of money every year????
Hey, mate, please wake up...
They just do business, because they couldn't get any pension yet, or haven't any other possibility to afford an acceptable lifestyle in Thailand.
They just want too alive without returning to Europe...mostly with less money as you could get from the welfare system of your own country.
...unfortunately, many of them are forced to work some months in Europe though, or must ask friends, parents etc. for financial support to come over the law-season.
That's the reality I saw in the last 12 years.

Just an advice: try to run your own business...hopefully you'll earn enough for a modest life!...and forget about "big dreams" of becoming wealthy, especially in Thailand

I have no plans to become wealthy in Thailand, so you are saying i should be glad if i can take out a salary of 5000 B/month ? I just want to do something there and not just lie on my ass, to young for that, i off course have another income that is generating money. Thanks for all the input in this subject and i really appreciate all your answers.

Well, I never said anything about 5k/month...I don't know what's going on in Sweden, but in Germany the social assistance is in Thai-Baht about 15k/month.
...By the way, I "retired" myself when I was 29 years...believe me, I hadn't any problems to lie on my ass till now...it's a great life...just try it and good luck for future

texana,
From the other postings you obviously now know that the returns you were originally looking for are not possible, and you subsequently lowered the figure to 30-40%, but even that is at the higher end for net profit, not just in Thailand but anywhere. It would probably entail making a gross profit of 60-70% or above, depending on overheads. The other problem, particularly here in Thailand, is that if someone else sees you apparently doing well with your business, they will often set up an identical business right next door (for example internet cafes, massage, estate agents etc), thus instantly halving your business. Unless you can offer something that is either unique or needs a lot of start up capital then you will hit this problem and never get close to your desired return.
I know you were looking for an existing business here to become a partner in, but most people who have a successful business will probably not need nor welcome someone else, unless they can increase the turnover or profit accordingly, or reduce the work they have to do significantly. And then there is the question of Thai regulations and work permits etc....
Good luck in whatever you do and I hope you find something that suits.

Hi again...I´m already manager for a thai co ltd (internet company) so the work permit is no problem, but i only spend about 1-2 hour a day on that one.

Thanks
