Re: Snake in Town
Does anyone know anyone around here who has actually been bitten by a snake?
This is the way
Re: Snake in Town
I have been going to Thailand for the
last 16 years. And never met any snake.
But I was bitten by a viper here in
Norway a few years ago while cutting
the grass.

Re: Snake in Town
I have 2 friends who have been bitten, both on the golf course.
First guy took a big swing in the trees and dislodged a snake which bit him on the chest (he said it was like a wasp sting).
Another friend called Mike was in the rough and he was bitten on the ankle, again no real bad effects - just a new nickname.........snake bite mike!

^ Another reason to give up that damned sport! I'm always in the trees or rough...
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
Re: Snake in Town
Oh dear, I live in this area too. Hope not to see one when I am out on the street.
Already got used to the rats in the evening near the rubbish place who run off when they here somebody passing by Thank God. :-)
Funny to see the wild monkeys op the road a bit further on, but a snake.... yuk no thanks.
I saw last week in Bintabaht some commotion, seems to be there was a centipede.
Girls screaming, and somebody killed this centipede.
I only know small ones from my homecountry and they are so tiny you hardly notice them
I did not see this one that night, ( I was sitting a bit further on ) so did not understand the commotion.
I went on You Tube and saw a huge one attacking a mouse !!
My goodness, I regret that I have seen that video.
Last night I saw a centipede in Soi 80. Not extremely huge as the one on You Tube, but I have never seen a big one. Girls jumping up the chairs, and tried to get rid of it by using a stick to throw him ( or her ? ) a few meters away.
Very weird to see this as I never knew anything about this animal.

Here is the link where you can see a centipede eats a mouse.
Re: Snake in Town
If you confront a centipede it will always raise its tail at you trying to make you think it's his head, chop the other end. You'll also find some old Thai guys here who will pick one up behind the head, take out a pair of nail clippers and snip off the fangs. You can then let it crawl up and down your arm like a pet. Then they'll take it home and put it into a bottle of Thai whiskey. Gives them power so they say. Pete

Re: Snake in Town
Last week while heading back from town up Bor-Fai beside the small garden shop (just before the turn up to Hin Lek Fai) our Tuk-tuk swerved in the road to avoid a snake, we went back for a look at a 2.5mtr Python. then got back to the house and out on the front tiles was the tiniest snake i've seen - maybe 3-4inches long slowly moving along. Wife despatched it quickly, then repented after killing it, so it was a visit to the temple the next morning....
