This is an industry standard gutter design for commercial builds. Not sure if the average consumer wants a roof looking like Makro's :) with twin skin insulated profile sheeting and Z purlins

Steel portal frame design will allow greater flexibility to be creative but at a cost. As labour is much cheaper in LOS cast beams and columns tend to prevail for domestic builds. The same profile roof can be achieved using conventional local build techniques and a cast drainage channel

Still no harm in doodling :D

yes your correct Whaler, the detail i posted was an example of a valley gutter only, it is not the detail from the design posted.

Selecting house design is all about examining how much space you required. You can search modern house design in a variety of shapes and sizes. This means that you can get the space that you required while also getting the design that you enjoy, no matter what that might be.

For some reason, Thai (modern) house designs waste a lot of space. We have books of designs and all of them seem to have huge wasted square footage in two (or sometimes three) living rooms with sofas and chairs and lots of big open empty areas and hallways. A good house design to me is one that makes use of all the area with no wasted space. I'm trying to design that perfect house now for my next one.

i think Thais tend to design from the outside in. rather than inside out.
so they will have a house shape and size they like and then fit the rooms inside the house.which often leads to fail. :D

Yes, that goes along with our saving face and status themes. Most people see the house from the outside so it should be palatial. Just the opposite with the Italians. The exteriors look old and terrible but the interior usually palatial. I was told this is because if the house or condo block looked great from the outside, it would attract thieves. Pete

Yes, when we look through books of house plans for our next project the missus only looks at the photo or drawing of the front of the house and says "I like this one". I have to point out to her most times that the floor plan is nothing like we want or is totally impractical.

I visited several large houses in Indonesia that belonged to rich Asians and they used to all feature a massive entrance hall with a huge curving marble staircase that took up about 2/3rds of the volume of the house. It's all about making a grand impression on visitors and other rooms such as bedrooms were often pretty modest.
The other major difference with Western houses was that as they all employed cooks, the kitchens were industrial type, stainless steel affairs around the back, more like what you would find in a small restaurant.
