I tried looking back through the forum for you because I know several members have had similar dilemmas, and have overcome them. However, I found a few questions, but I couldn't find anybody who came back to share their solution.

If no other responses, I would send the wife down to where the town baht buses park and ask around. We've had success in other parts of Thailand doing this as someone always knows someone with a larger truck for hire. Pete

Did you ever stop to think that the 139 that looked at your post had NO useful information to share with you

I've done it but it involved getting the family in Isaan to come down with a truck and spend a night in HH before trekking back to Isaan

One person you might ask is a taxi owner called Ratee. She speaks good English and has family ties in Isaan. Her number is 089 063 2877

Yes I did, just wanted people to wake up, and it helped. The answer I got now, is probaly from some of the 139 people reading my post before, so thanks for your help, I will work something out from this, and keep your posted.

Make sure you remember the number of the, "man with a van."

Isaan is an acquired taste and many Westerners find living there, full time, difficult.

I hope it works out for you.

I visited for a few days at a time for a few months before committing. I lasted about a year but with a couple of breaks away ro regain my sanity

Best of luck mate. At least it will be a memorable experience of real rural Thailand not the Blackpool of Thailand that Hua Hin has become :duck:
