A new theme community mall will be soon open in Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan province.
Called Venezia Hua Hin, it is owned and developed by Fashion Village Development. The 1.2 billion baht project will bring the atmosphere of Venice to Thailand, according to Sutassa Laohongkiat, the company's managing director. It will feature several attractions of the famed Italian city such as the Grand Canal with gondolas, St Mark's Square and the 23m Bell Tower offering visitors a panoramic view of the place. There will also be a 4,000m2 activity zone for hosting outdoor activities such as music concerts and food festivals, and another 20,000m2 area for people to enjoy shopping and dining. Also offered are a morning flower and fruit market and a family and children's zone.
"Venezia Hua Hin will make visitors feel like they are visiting Venice. It will be the destination plus a shopping mall where you can spend at least half a day or even a day with us because Venezia Hua Hin has plenty to offer," she said, adding that the project would be only the first phase. The second phase will include a resort and a condominium. Venezia Hua Hin is located on a 46-rai plot of land on Highway 4 (Phetkasem Road) and 9km before Hua Hin town. Venezia Hua Hin will have a soft launch and open to the public on Dec 12.

They were handing out flyers for this at the elephant polo. From the pictures, it does look quite impressive, and given its location, it will probably be quite a hit, particularly with the Bangkok crowd coming down on the weekends.
Don't try to impress me with your manner of dress cos a monkey himself is a monkey no less - cold fact

Re: Venice comes to Hua Hin
You're quite right jonnyk, It's probably modelled on "Venice" Las Vegas or even "Venice Beach" California rather than Venice, Italy.
But then, of course, it would be!!
Let's just hope the casinos don't follow...!

Looks shit, more plastic food and tat that people visiting Thailand are obviously crying out for just like the floating market, will be sure to avoid it and most probably go for a walk on the beach instead.

Think it, like many new rip joints is aimed at BK yuppies. Not Farang tourists and certainly not ex-pat residents.
Was talking to a Thai condo resident who has a house in BK and a second home in the condo. Guess you could call him middleclass and middle aged. He said all this new stuff is for BK rich brats to show off to their g/f's

Why have a pop at somebody just because he quotes something that a Thai resident told him?GLCQuantum wrote:So I guess he said that both the floating markets were just for rich brats to show their girlfriends too, right?richard wrote:Well let's just say he has experience of living and working in BK and living in HH.
