Hua Hin Classic Car Show 2012

Post by Suegrayer38 »

Does anyone know what dates the Hua Hin Classic Car Show will be held this year as I am having my honeymoon in Hua Hin and would love to arrange for new husband to see the cars plus I understand from reading different information you can book a meal at the Sofitel Hotel. I would like to do this as a surprise so any information on this would be greatly appreciated.

Its usually the first or second weekend in December, but they don't release the dates until about a month before the event. Keep an eye on this thread, we'll post dates as soon as we get them.

Read somewhere that the dates this year are 18-20 of December, maybe an idea to contact the Sofitel though as these things often get changed with little or no notice.

Thanks for that information. The trouble is I cannot find an email address for the Sofitel in Hua Hin. All that happens is companies that sell rooms on behalf of the Sofitel comes up. I really would like to arrange the meal and see the cars when we are over in December because as mentioned we will be on our honeymoon and my Husband to be just loves old cars, he also races cars and I thought that a meal etc at the Sofitel would be a nice surprise and to get in involved in the whole atmosphere.

Thanks again for replying to my question.

Have a good weekend.

This maybe a stupid comment, but is it still called the Sofitel? I'm sure I've seen a new name outside when I've gone past.

If it is still called Sofitel, you could try this address reservation@sofitel.co.th.

Thank you for that information, it was not a stupid comment but as I said when I searched it would not give me any information on the actual Sofitel itself just companies booking rooms on their behalf.

I am going to email the hotel straight away and thanks again for your help it is much appreicated.

Have a good day.

An extensive web search shows that it is now called 'Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Hua Hin' - re-launched 1 Jan 2012.

[Edit] Of course, it will still be affectionately known as the Sofitel for years to come.

What's the show like? Are the classics from around the globe or centered on American or European? I don't see many classics in Thailand so it would be very cool to see some real nice wheels. I always fantasize what it would like to bring some of my favorite cars to Thailand if I could afford it  Maybe next life :thumb:

Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Hua Hin (a member of the Leading Hotels of the World) in cooperation with Hua Hin Municipality and with the support of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, and other five-star hotels in Hua Hin, is organising the Hua Hin Automobile Concours 2012, which will take place 14-16 December 2012.

The event this year is dedicated to Thailand’s three auspicious occasions, the 85th birthday of His Majesty King Bhumibol, the 80th birthday of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit and the 60th birthday of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn, all of which fall in 2012.

The aim of this year's event is also to assist in creating destination awareness, throughout Thailand and abroad, as well as displaying the charming classic and vintage cars.

Among the many vintage cars that will take part will be Police General Niyom Karnjanawat's Hub Mobile 1914, the only one in Asia. Sawad Hohrungrueng will present his Mercedes Benz 300 SL Roadster 1955, Pot Vijittanont his Mercedes Benz 300 SL Gull-wing 1955, Witthawat Sawad-Chutoh his Ferrari Dino 246 GTS 1974.

Part of the proceeds generated from the event will be donated to the Chaipattana Foundation.

Fifty classic and vintage cars will take part in the parade which will also feature period costumes and a car contest. There will also be a jazz concert on the beach on Saturday, 15 December.

Hua Hin Automobile Concours 2012 will also feature a fun-filled programme of music and dining, which will take place at the Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Hua Hin.

Could you tell me what is happening on Sunday 16th December regarding this Classic Car Show as I arrive from the UK on Saturday 15th but would love to take my future husband to the show as a surprise. Is there a meal or anything on the Sunday evening?

Sunday is usually taken up by the cars returning to Bangkok, starting around mid-day.
So very unlikely to be anything else planned, particularly in the evening.
