driving lessons in Hua Hin

Not sure what school or instructor my wife used, but it wasn't the place mentioned in this thread. Her instructor was actually a policeman, and as strange as it might sound, he did not have enough clout, at least not with her being unwilling to pay for her license - she FAILED. Apparently she rolled too fat back when pulling away on an incline. She did a few more lessons to correct the fault, sat her test again, and passed. Even if I say so myself, she drives as well as anyone I know. Then again, her time in SA and in the UK could have something to do with that. In fact, she's already told me I make her nervous when I drive because I'm the same as the Thais - bloody cheek. Hell, she expects me to indicate when I'm pulling out from our driveway onto a quite soi where there is NO other cars.

Head inland over the railway track on the Pala U road. There is the big supermarket on your left. Just past it do not turn right with the majority of the traffic but keep straight ahead. About 150m on your right, at the end of a block as I recall, there is a driving school.

You'll see all the traffic sign stickers on their window.

Following this post I went to the "driving School" mentioned above last week. Booked lessons and paid a deposit of 2500 Baht with the promise that I would get a call the same evening to confirm the first lesson. I did not get a call and after 8 tries at calling the number I had been given someone answered. I was told that the price of 5000 Baht I had agreed had now gone up to 6000 and that the area where the instruction would take place was a 30 minute drive from where my girlfriend would be picked up; therefore, each lesson would 30 minutes instead of the agreed hour.

Needless to say I have been back to this establishment and recovered my deposit. Be Warned !
