Apart from the Elephant Village near Hua Hin are there any other elephant shows/rides in the region?

You can take Elephant rides at Khao Takiab, near the Baan Thai resort.

The Tourist Office deny that there are elephants at Khao Takiap.Does anyone have a phone number for them so I can check.
Elephant Village charges 850 for adults and 500 each for children.
For two adults and 4 small children they want 370 Baht.
It might be cheaper to buy an elepant!

The Elephants at Khao Takiep are in the Soi just past Jamjuree Condo on the left hand side before you get to the Beach. Don't know the costs guess you will just have to go and ask.

Thanks for the information.
I should have typed 3700 instead of 370 in my previous note.

Hi there, just to give you some idea what a ride on an Elephant is actually worth in Thailand; a few weeks ago I was up at our house in Nong Ki when two elephants turned up in the village. They took local children on rides around the area for 10 baht a go. I sent all the available kids for a ride and bought the mahouts a bowl of noodles each for about 200 baht. When I first moved to Hua Hin I went to Elephant Village (not then knowing the going rate for Elephant locomotion) and what impressed my girlfriend was that the mahouts command the elephants in the same language that she speaks in Nong Ki, so it was possibly the same elephant!

Thanks for theinformation.
Much better value for money.
250 baht for adults and 125 for children(includes a fresh coconut).
Not so easy to find since the wind blew down their sign.

There is another one a bit further out but worth the trip. I do not know the charges. The Elephant show is in the villge of Pala U about 5 KM before you get to the waterfall. You should be able to see the show and the waterfall on the same day.

Make sure that you have protection against the rain. The weather is completely different up there from down on the coast.
