Thai Mother's Day

Post by PeteC »

Just a reminder that tomorrow, August 12 is not only the Queen's birthday, but Mother's Day as well. Monday is the official "day off" for the event as it falls on Saturday.

So, all you farang husbands whose Thai wives may have a Mom in the local vicinity, time to buck up and do our duty, no matter what.

Buy some flowers, out to lunch etc. Should pay dividends with the spouse if we do it with a smile on our faces. :D

Those guys with kids here, not a bad idea to get something for the Thai wife as well on behalf of your child. Pete

Having read this thread, I mentioned the event to my wife. She then spent the next 10 minutes trying to explain what it meant to my son.

She did not actually see him turn the volume up on his MP3 player.

I think he has decided the (Americanised) UK Mother's Day is enough.

Yes, Happy Birthday Lomu. I just spent most of the day fighting traffic between here and Rayong. I'm exhausted. I had hoped most Bangkonians would stay home this 3 day weekend because of Mothers day, but no luck. Sukhumvit from Sattahip to Pattaya resembled a Bangkok expressway, a parking lot! Hope HH is not suffering from the same but imagine it is. Pete

Funny thing is that in some European countries, 12th of August IS Mother's Day as well.

Well, 12th of August and 10th of May are both Mother's Days in my home country.
It's a small world after all...
