Re: Midget
Khon Kek, with the last k almost not pronounced, means 'dwarf'.
Re: Midget
'Lek mak' means 'very small'.
Google translate (always worth a try with individual words) gives the following for midget: คนแคระ - sounds like 'khon kreh' to me.

Re: Midget
Quite possible it should have an R in there, a bit like the difference between krap and kap, I think it depends on the accent and I think putting the R in may be more proper.
Re: Midget
Thanks to all. "Lek mak" may be it as it is a small object, not a person.Dahling wrote:'Lek mak' means 'very small'.

Re: Midget
Does it also depend on what is being referred to, or is there a "classifier" added depending on what it is?Roel wrote:Dictionary says:

Re: Midget
No classifier. It is an adjective. As in midget golf.
Otherwise the noun (a midget) is the above mentioned kon krae.

Re: Midget
I also having been reminded by this latest post checked with my wife. " Nekma" was probably Lek ma ....small coming. Ie. this is a person with small (size) coming ( to them).. No idea myself but my wife says yes. I don't argue.....

Re: Midget
It was in reference to a car, as in: MG Midget. But as they also tried to tell me the car was an "Austin", I took it with the usual caution!Bristolian wrote:I also having been reminded by this latest post checked with my wife.
