Help to transfer funds from Bangkok Bank to Third Party
Help to transfer funds from Bangkok Bank to Third Party
I am hoping to find a solution. I have set up my Bangkok Bank account to transfer funds from my account to several third party accounts at different banks. The problem is, that to complete the transaction, each time they SMS a one time security code number to input on line in order to complete the transaction. This SMS comes to my Thai phone number only. They do not offer internet message for this. And it expires in fifteen minutes. Are there any other banks that will send an email or that don't require this security feature. I may need to open an account at that bank. If there is another solution, please share this. This is no problem while I am in Thailand, but I need to make the transfers when I am abroad. And my Thai number does not work their. Thanks.
I wouldn't have to manage my anger if people could learn to mange their stupidity!

Not only Bangkok Bank, but Siam Commercial will only send phone messages to a Thai phone as well. I do get emails from Bank of Ayudhya daily through their email alert system, but I only have them send my balance daily. I've never tried to do an online transfer but you might want to check with them.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

My Kasikorn transfers have worked fine while I was abroad. I just made
sure at the carrier (DTac) that my Thai phone also works abroad.

Same with me, the issue was resolved by emailing AIS customer service and arranging roaming on my phone. Now I can do my transfers while abroad with no problems at all, which ironically includes topping-up my Thai mobile

I think you're charged for SMS received while roaming out of the country. Not sure how much but I think it can be steep. I was overseas for a month and only received various SMS messages and a few short calls, plus one short call made back to Thailand, and the next bill was about 2800.00. I was on post paid with DTAC. With SCB the SMS security code number to a Thai phone number is needed to set up a recipient. The first two transactions after that also need a SMS security code number. Further transactions can be made to that recipent on line without further security other than logging on. It maybe the same with the BKK Bank? Hope this helps.

If you use Kasikorn, you can choose between SMS and PIN2 security. If you choose PIN2 you create an extra pincode that can be used to approve payments.SunandFun wrote:I am hoping to find a solution. I don't believe it costs anything to receive a text with AIS One2Call when I'm abroad. It's not something that I do frequently but my credit seems to be largely unaffected by receiving texts from the LOS.prcscct wrote: I think you're charged for SMS received while roaming out of the country. Had the same problem with Bangkok Bank and the only solution was to put the Thai Sim card in a spare phone when it then worked by roaming with their UK partner (T-Mobile). The SMS one-time codes from the bank were successfully received, free of charge. Only needed the SMS code to set-up a new beneficiary but also started receiving a backlog of daily advertising SMS's though from DTAC 'partners' which were being charged !! An email request to DTAC's helpline soon blocked them though.SunandFun wrote:I am hoping to find a solution. Thanks for all of the feedback!
I am off to the Bank today, to sort it out, with your advise.
If no bank solution, then off to AIS to check on the sim. I am in India and will need the sim to work there, so hoping that it will Roam any where. Will post results later.
Again, thanks to all that have so far posted.

I also have an AIS One2Call card which I use here in the Middle East and find the same.J.J.B. wrote:I don't believe it costs anything to receive a text with AIS One2Call when I'm abroad. By the way, how do you top up your credit on line?

Bangkok online banking sends to a otp code via sms to your registered phone number which get entered on line to establish 3rd party accounts and once you may a transfer to a third party account. Log on to your online accounts, click the my settings tab and there is a button to turn of the otp process. Below is the screen.

Re: Help to transfer funds from Bangkok Bank to Third Party
Once you set up your 3rd party account and get the initial OTP to establish the account you will get one more otp when you make your first transfer the the new account you set up. After that subsequent transfers are accomplished without a otp and sms to your phone. So if you are abroad set up all your accounts before you leave.
