I'm reading lots about protests in BKK by people eating sandwiches and reading 1984.
I can understand the latter as a form of resistance, but... Sandwiches?!

I heard from someone that this news was on BBC radio yesterday - presumably on the World Service. But I've seen nothing yet on any TV news. Must check A N Other site.....

Re: Sandwiches
What's this about protesting by eating sandwiches? Protest against the coup? And the 1984 is that the book written by murakami?
Re: Sandwiches
1984 was written by George Orwell - it was set in the future (at the time it was written) about an oppressive totalitarian regime.
Here's a link to a story about the sandwiches. Still seems a little odd: http://www.independent.ie/world-news/an ... 37958.html

Someone got arrested yesterday for simply reading "1984" in Siam Paragon mall, Bangkok.
