Budgets set aside for repairs of Hua Hin pier

Post by buksida »

A budget of 115 million baht has been approved for the repair of the Hua Hin Fishing Pier while another amount of 835 million baht will also be allocated for the improvement of roads in the southern border provinces.

According to Ms Pattamaporn Rattanadilok na Phuket, Spokeswoman of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), a decision was reached at the council’s meeting to disburse 115 million baht from the central budget for the renovation of the Hua Hin Fishing Pier in Hua Hin district of Prachaup Khiri Khan province. The renovation project is in line with His Majesty the King’s royal advice on the use of the pier for fish transshipment.

At the same time, the NCPO gave approval to another 835 million baht to be used to support the upgrade of 37 roads, with a combined distance of 974 kilometers, within Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat and four districts of Songkhla. A timeframe of 360 days has been set for the construction work.

The NCPO chief also expressed concerns over risks of natural disasters in many provinces during this rainy season and affirmed that funds were being distributed to support prevention and mitigation efforts and compensate disaster victims.

Thought: I sincerely hope they've included the despicable stretch of road between Prachuab and Pranburi in this budget.

Yeah good news about the roads but i will be pleased to walk down the pier once again i just hope the refurbishment will look a little more appealing as from Big Boys thread their is so much wasted opportunity and potential down in that area for regeneration.

Hua Hin Fishing Pier Renovations
The Bangkok Fish Market Organisation, along with the Hua Hin Municipality and Klai Kangwon Royal Navy Patrol, have completed recent renovations of the Hua Hin fishing pier.

The Director of the Bangkok Fish Market Organisation, Mr. Manop Kanchanaburakul, said that the Hua Hin fishing pier had been modified with a 115 million THB budget. Fishing boats and the Klai Kangwon Royal Navy Patrol boats can now be moored and marine products can be brought ashore. The new fishing pier has the same standards as many other piers, having rubber bumpers that protect boats from damage by the pier pillars, as well as an area where boat passengers can embark and disembark. On the upper level, a private company has rented an area to market marine products, so that local fishermen can sell and buy their products.

The fishing pier can be another area where local fishermen can earn an income as well as local fresh markets. Responsible for supervising 18 fishing piers throughout Thailand, the Director of the Bangkok Fish Market Organisation said that each area had different problems, such as wastewater and trespassing. The Prime Minister Gen.

Prayuth Chan-ocha has ordered authorities to give priority to the Hua Hin fishing pier. Apart from serving as a business place for local fishermen and an area where boats can moored, the Hua Hin fishing pier will become a walking precinct in the late afternoon and evening where visitors can enjoy and admire the local lifestyle says the Hua Hin mayor Mr. Nopporn Wutthikul.

It has been a request of local people that an area be provided for small fishing boats and that the beach area between the new and old fishing piers be available as a public area with lights installed. Mr. Manop said that further development will be the responsibility of public and private organisations as a cooperative public development project. However the pier currently has restricted access due to the construction of new buildings. It will be some months before benefits to the public can be realised.

Looks like a new Lifestyle Mall going to open adjacent to the renovated fishing pier, (land that used to be a car park).

Major construction in progress and poster naming the project 'Hua Hin Harbour 55'.

Not quite sure what a Lifestyle Mall is, but it seems pretty dumb building it on the only car parking in the area.

Lifestyle = somewhere for the trendy Bangkokians to hang out on weekends. Not sure what it's for Monday - Friday night.

The graphic photo is looking at the Mall from 'Buffalo Bills', the metal structures are already erected.

The Car Park has been closed a long time now, probably over a year
