I am looking at buying a new Honda too, the CBR 500 r is great value at 210,000 baht. The downside is that all the big Hondas have to go back to Big Wing for service, and BKK or Pattaya, are the nearest branches to Hua Hin.
The CBR needs valve shims checked at 1000 k's, so almost a run from BKK, a bit of local runs, then back again! And no bikes are allowed to use the Toll roads, so a difficult place to access using the local roads only.
I am now considering Kawasaki, as they have a shop in Kuriburi, which has full service facilities and is run by the most enthusiastic and pleasant Thai guy. I went in last week and he was so helpful, test ride, visit the workshop, got new bikes out of storage, so I could see the different colours in sunlight......fantastic service.
The run to Kuriburi can be around Dolphin Bay, so a great ride to get there too!
Makes the Kwaker a serious contender now.
We have Ducati in Hua Hin as well, but an entry level Monster with ABS is 450,000 bht!!
Too much for me !
If anyone knows the answer to local servicing for Honda big bikes, would be interested to know.

I took my CB500F down to Suratthani where Bigwing have recently opened a new service station. The journey is longer but it beats dicking around in Bangkok.

Just checked the route and it is 460k, and shows a 5 hour trip. Did you do it there and back in a day?

How good was the service, did they do it straight away when you arrived?

Maybe an overnight stay in a cheap local hotel would be a good plan, or make it part of a few day trip down southern Thailand?

Any thoughts and are you pleased with the CB 500 F ? Can't decide if that is better than the CBR for Thailand riding?

I did it from Bangsaphan which is only 270km, booked it in before to make sure they were ready, took about an hour or so and I rode back the same day.

No website as such but they're on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/hondabigwing.surat

I would advise going to Bigwing in Bangkok to test ride the bikes, then you'll get a better idea of the riding position you prefer. The F model is definitely more comfortable than the R for longer distances since you're sitting more upright and the bars are flatter - less pressure on wrists and shoulders than the sports bikes.

Would love the Ducati but finances wont permit!

I am wondering if anyone decided on the CB650F and took the plunge.

I am a fan of the Hornet and although I know the CB650F is not the replacement I am hoping its a decent compromise for the occasional ride.

Has anyone bought one here in HH and if so, where did you buy it from? Good service etc? and what do you think of the bike?

In the mean time, I'm going to check out the Kawa's down Kui Buri. :)

I don't think the Honda bikes are available in Prachaub Khiri Khan yet as per previous posts.
Kawasaki are available in Kui Buri and K.T.M. in Hua Hin.
Cheers,
GN.

No, as mentioned above you can only buy and service new Honda big bikes in Bangkok or Suratthani.

Not yet. I was looking at the HondaBigWing shop in Bangkok too but wondered if anyone had gone up and bought one. Servicing is an issue but as I have family in Bangkok, a quick blast up there would be okay.
Looked at Ducati today and whilst there were a couple of nice bikes there, they were somewhat more expensive.
Perhaps I'll have a more serious look at the Kawasaki's. ER-6N perhaps.

Bought a CB500F last year and have had it serviced in Bangkok once and Surat once, the latter being far easier.

Anyone any feedback on the 650F? Looks like the logical upgrade from the 500 ...

Hi Buksi

For less than 300K, it looks a decent bike.

Its got twice of everything that the CB500 has, including horsepower!

I might have something red for sale if you can wait a few months, probably around 425k mark, if you are interested
Only the crumbliest, flakiest Winkie....
