shipping personal property

Just an update to my earlier shipping enquiry.

I went with Seven Seas. My estimate of weight was way out, it turned out to be 2x30kg large boxes. The paperwork UK end was really easy with the Jack and Jill instructions. Total cost for door to door shipping £160.25. The shipment was collected as arranged on 11/09. I had an email on 22/09 to say my good had been shipped.

Goods arrived in Bangkok on 26/10 where they have been since arrival.

Two days ago I emailed the receiving company in Bangkok......World Mega Logistics for an update on delivery and as of this moment they have not replied.

Emailed Seven Seas yesterday morning asking if they could enquire on my behalf and received the reply a few hours later stating that there is a delay in clearing customs due to port congestion and the local company will contact me re delivery when available.

So far in summary the UK end with Seven Seas was excellent. My goods have been with customs in Bangkok awaiting clearance for the best part of a month.

I do hope they arrive soon I am running out of teabags

My experience with 7 seas was good. It actually took about 3 months (not the quoted 6-8 weeks quoted) door to door, and the only problem was that they would only come to the end of our drive. I had to unload the truck myself while the driver sat on his arse in the cab of the truck - shouldn't be a problem with just 2 boxes.

There is good news. I have just had a phonecall from Bangkok saying my goods will be delivered Tue/Wed next week.

They will call me on Monday to advise and confirm............result.

I only have 4 Tetley Extra Strong left :-)

I know this is an old post but need advice.
We are leaving Abu Dhabi end of January for good to retire in Hua Hin and we will be shipping some personal items, photos, pictures., golf clubs etc. not large items as our place is fully furnished and we have had the house since 2008.
I do though want to ship my Smart TV but the Embassy advises me to sell it??.
Will we also have taxes to pay for personal things
We are both Europeans

Hello london boy,

I came here 18 month ago. Leaving germany to seddle down here in Hua Hin. So packed a 40 foot container with all
our personal stuff and shipped it to Thailand. At the custom I only had a little problem with the four bicycles i put into
the container. We had to put every piece to a list in english to add to the paperwork. So they told us at the custom we are
allowed to bring one piece each which means only to bicycles one for my wife and one for me. So we had to pay an extra of 1000 Bath for the third and the fourth bike.
If you intent to bring your collection of tvs or other it could get expencive.

Personally I agree with the Embassy, sell it and buy new when you get here. You will find what you need here and it will have a new 12 month warranty.

I didn't have to pay anything on my goods as they were mostly clothes and personal family..ish items............and of course my Tetley Extra Strong Teabags.

Smart TV's seem to be averaging about 1,000USD for 50", and less as you go down in size. I was just browsing a HomePro monthly booklet a few days ago. Assume other outlets are about the same. Pete

I am interested in the opposite direction shipping some items from Thai to either US or Canada.
Small amount, no furniture mostly clothes and framed pictures. 2 or3 tea chests I guess

You seem to have been given advice that you're happy with, all I will add is that I too relocated to Hua Hin from Abu Dhabi back in 2011 and I used Allied Pickfords to move everything we had - they were first class in both AD and HH.

They're probably not the cheapest, but I can only say from my experience that it is worth paying a bit extra to get a quality service.
