I got an automatic reply to my request for an appointment. Got the appointment confirmed a day or two later. Turned up on the day and handed over all the necessary forms, photocopies etc.

Then sat back to wait - a little nervous as I had some travel plans already booked.

15 days later, I received an email that the passport was ready for collection. Fantastic service.

I have looked back on all posts to see if there was a 'link' which details what documentation is required to renew a UK passport from Thailand, but could not find anything - so can someone help?

It seems that I download tyhe forms and take them to the Trendy Building in Bangkok and some weeks later they will advise receipt for collection ? Is there no way I can send the forms direct to UK passport?

Many thanks

On the British Embassy website for Thailand you will find all the relevant information on which forms are necessary including the payment details.

And, NO, you cannot send them direct to the UK - I checked this.

However they seem to be sending back the new passport in 2-3 weeks so the only inconvenience is having to go to Bangkok to submit the forms.

went to Bangkok early this morning had a 11.20 appointment to surrender paper work showed up at 9am they tell you on the email not to get there early, girl on desk booked me in told me to go to floor 28 I was seen straight away, out of there in 15mins.

things here don't make sense when you think its going to be difficult its easy and when you think its easy its difficult, I thought I was going to be turned away until my appointment time so was well worth the gamble going to the desk early was hardly any one in there.

Two weeks for me also, and that included a Bank Holiday weekend in the UK.

I have just got to organise the letter from the Embassy asking Immigration to transfer the Visa for me to my new passport.

The time has come for Mrs BB to renew her British Passport. I've received the appointment, but in the e-mail it says:
Only the passport applicant is permitted entry to the application centre.
The application centre is on the 28th floor, I believe. Will I be permitted to travel to the 28th floor and sit outside the office, or am I barred from entering the building? She'll probably get lost if I'm not there :banghead: .

How long does the process take? Her appointment is at 09:40, so we'll travel up the day before - there seems to be a half decent hotel in the next Soi. Will we have time to go back to collect our luggage afterwards?

We'll probably get the airport bus, and then a taxi. Is it far from the airport?

You can go to the 28th floor with her but can not enter the visa and passport area

My appointment took no more than 30 minutes with maybe 15 minutes wait before hand.

Make sure that she has all of the paperwork with her.

Thanks, that's brilliant. 30 minutes seems to be a long time to hand over a couple of bits of paper.

Also found out it's only 35 Km to and from the airport, so not too expensive for taxi.

The 30 minutes was spent checking and double checking that the form had been correctly completed and that all of the necessary paperwork was present and correct. I actually had two girls handling my application which probably doubled the necessary time!

The Airport Rail Link would be what I would use.

You could also use the airport link and sky train as its situated between Nana and Asok stations on Sukumvit road. If you are brave you could drive, there are a few hotels locally with parking available

You can go with her all the way into the embassy visa section, just go through the security part. I'm sure the quote above is for when she is called to submit the application, she has to do this alone.

From what I remember it is a fairly small room with five or six numbered booths, she will be called and given a booth number to go to. Someone there will check all her documentation, payment details and give her a receipt of documents given and courier receipt. That's it, took me all of 5 mins and about 10 mins waiting outside the application center.

My wife came with me, through security and waited outside with me, nice comfy sofas to wait on, newspapers, water to drink.

Remember to go to the consular desk on the ground floor first to get your appointment confirmed before heading up to the 28th floor.

While up on the 28th floor, walk to one of windows to the left or right of the lift. Great views over Bangkok if you have a head for heights.

Thanks JD, 5 to 10 minutes sounds more reasonable. I never miss a view opportunity, so I'll probably manage both sides :D
