The hotline were very helpful when my girlfriend called. I don't think it's something they'd be able to fix without sending somebody out to see it though.
Thanks for the number. I'll save that in my phone for future reference.
Railway Crossing Safety
Railway Crossing Safety
This gate problem seems to happen quite often at the Soi 10 crossing. I've also seen it a few times at the Palm Hills crossing. However if you actually see a train go by you can be pretty sure there won't be another one for a while. Though one time at Soi 10 the gate stayed closed after a train went by, and just as it looked like vehicles were going to start zig zagging through, one of those little workers' bogies trundled through.

An old thread, but it's still happening. This video was made at the crossing nearest Hua Hin Station (no barriers, just an audible alarm) last weekend:

Re: Railway Crossing Safety
Somewhat off the theme of your scary message, but that was the most modern train that I’ve seen on the line. We can only hope and assume, that when the new high speed twin track service is introduced that it will be properly fenced off at all crossings!!Big Boy wrote:An old thread, but it's still happening. Re: Railway Crossing Safety
I saw this on the other forum. Although most of the crossings now have automatic barriers, the majority are only half barriers which are useless with the locals. Motorbikes go around them as a norm and I've even seen cars do the maneuver. The only way is the installation of full barriers.

Re: Railway Crossing Safety
Stop Look Listen .... common sense for any RR crossing. Safety is our own responsibility.
Surely the HSL will be properly controlled at crossings.

Re: Railway Crossing Safety
There will be no crossings! The project consists of the current Airport Rail Link route of 29 km. and the new constructed route of 191 km. The train will operate on the following types of tracks 1) the elevated track of 181 km., 2) the track of 2 km., and 3) the underground track of 8 km.

ABSOLUTELY - too many people feel they shud be guaranteed a pain free risk free existance witk no input of responsibility from themselves. Many of us are here because we were fed up with govts taking complete control of our lives. But some are not satisfied that here is not enuf like there - not enuf like where they came fromlaphanphon » Wed Aug 01, 2018 10:06 am

A lot of problems can be solved with education - try to teach people how to think for themselves - but first you got to teach the teachers...

And who is going to teach the teachers? Ain't gonna happen in our lifetime in LOS. The criterion is obedience not thinking. Goes back to Confucius, Aristotle never made it this far.hin wrote: ↑Wed Aug 01, 2018 10:23 amABSOLUTELY - too many people feel they shud be guaranteed a pain free risk free existance witk no input of responsibility from themselves. Re: Railway Crossing Safety
^^ I think obedience is only a small part of it. After all an obedient population would obey the traffic laws, as well as other laws. The main criterion is control, and fear is the key. Fear of the state, its organs and influential people. Some laws will get you a 500 baht fine, but speaking out of place might get you years in jail. 25,000 traffic deaths a year is nothing unless and until it causes severe loss of face to the powers that be.

Re: Railway Crossing Safety
Good point. I was thinking more along the lines of obedience to family, boss, teachers, etc. On the road nobody's in control of you.hhinner wrote: ↑Wed Aug 01, 2018 7:30 pm ^^ I think obedience is only a small part of it.
