Hi,
I looked to see if this had been covered but only saw a thread about a TOT accident.
I know crime is almost everywhere in Thailand....but is it abundant in Bangsaphan..?
Not only marauding gangs of youths beating seniors but break ins to beach bungalows and resort staff crime....?
Thanks.

You could try this http://www.bangsaphanguide.com/
They have a forum page with quite a few locals on it.
I have only ever visited the place for a few days, so can't really answer your question.

Gracious, what a strange funny post. I think you should check very closely as I would bet there might be some Walking Dead staggering about down there as well.
Cheers!

Looking at some of the locals, it could be difficult to detectcentermid7 wrote:I think you should check very closely as I would bet there might be some Walking Dead staggering about down there as well.
Seriously, I've stayed in Bang Saphan a few times, and never had a problem.
Of course there will be crime, but there's crime everywhere in the world. In a sleepy hollow like Bang Saphan, bed time is about 7:30pm, so crime will generally take place before then.
JD's advice is spot on, check our sister forum.

In a word no. There was a spate of break ins about 3-4 years ago, all carried out by the same youths who were aprehended.Johnnywastaken wrote: I know crime is almost everywhere in Thailand....but is it abundant in Bangsaphan..?

We leave stuff open, granted not much valuable, on our front porch, which is on the beach. The first few months I would lock everything inside, now don't bother, and have had no problems
