Just had the worst dining experience in 20 + years of coming to Hua hin

Post by NOKYAI »

“The worst dining experience I Hua hin!”
Zagreb Indian in Tao Katieb
The place looked nice on a previous visit when we had a few drinks and listened to the smooth rock / blues band so I invited 3 couples to join me for dinner.
There is a small grassed area with a couple of kiddies play things which went down well.
2 of us ordered the mega platter with extras, the other kebabs and Bombay potatoes. The first orders of starters were wrongly placed, so others ate what they hadn't ordered! The far end of the table got their food in reasonable times do enjoyed it. BUT! It took over 35 minuets for the rest of the table to get theirs. The platter was the same as previously given to others so wasn't cooked to order and was therefore cold. The meet kibabs were cold and congealed, again had been waiting 35 minuets on the side. The breads were fine but the whole evening was ruined by 3/ 4 of the table waiting. The place had only one other table on a Saturday night so wasn't busy. When I complained several times about the wait, the staff were indifferent. When the food came and was cold and inedible and I refused it they suggested to call the police......I was happy for this and eventually with them we negotiated a 50% reduction and I take the cold rancid food. This of course went to the local soi dogs as it was not fit for consumption even if it hadn't been messed about by the staff.
This is the first time I have complained about food in Thailand!
Avoid this place ......
It a tourist trap for the Amari over the road! :cuss:

Well, NOKYAI, I was thinking how out of character it was for you to be making this type of observation as I read it - it must have been bad.

IT really was terrible! Made worse by the knowledge that most of the food was not cooked to order and just needed serving up as it was the same as my friends at the other end of the table! It took nearly an hour from placing the order and there was only one other table of 4.
We also didn't get what was on the menu and the kebabs were only about 30% of the size shown in the pictures on the menu.

The far end of the table had completely finished before our cold, substandard food arrived.
The breads were nice though

There is an Indian restaurant opposite the Amari called Zafran.

Just wondered if there is another one nearby called Zagreb as you mentioned in your post.

Can you clarify please ?

You are indeed correct! Zafran is the name.

I didn't notice that the dreaded spell check had changed it as I wrote it.

Really shocked by your report, muself and many many friends have been eating Indian food cooked Sajid for 5 or 6 years, he has always worked with this owner and the is a really nice guy, they used to do a monthly Indian buffet on the beach in Takieb which was really popular and movedthe centre of town a few years ago where they were doing really well and now moved back to Takieb. The owner has always said that if the food is no good then dont pay. Just spoken to him and he would be happy to meet you at the restaurant and you can talk about your night, if you message me your number I will put u in touch.

Cheers,

There was nobody in charge there last night! One Thai women in the kitchen, a girl behind the bar and one waiter who didn't give a damn.

I have just read through the Trip Advisor reviews and Sam has always replied to comments made and welcomes you to have another try. Unfortunately staff can let any down in any business and it seems you got a bad night, as I said earlier I am happy to put you in contact with Sam. Cheers JW
