Might need to provide more info on your house to get a detailed answer.
I'd talk to a handful of agencies in town and see what they offer in terms of management etc, then list it with 3 (for example, 1 Brit, 1 Scandi, 1 German).

I work for an agency as marketing manager. I cannot give the name or PM it to you due to T&c's.
Over the last 18 months we have pulled in more from social media and 3rd party sites than we have from our own. I would certainly advertise on here as the site has a large following and is a mine of information on Hua Hin. Most of the major booking sites are aiming at short term which leaves you with agencies or private rental by yourself.
Why use an agent when you can do it yourself and save the commission?
Of course I am biased on this issue having worked in real estate for many years and there are quite a few sub standard, in my opinion, agents out there so I will tell you the difference between a good and bad agent.
A bad agent will hand over the keys, take their money from the deposit and leave you with any problems that may occur which will be very frustrating. Many of these do not even have a company let alone work permits or any real knowledge of the properties.
A good agent, and there are many ,will conduct themselves in the following manner.
Find a tenant through their marketing and maintain communication with said potential tenant until arrival and throughout the tenancy.
So the deal is agreed, tenant verified as suitable. Time to draft contracts including inventory with photographs to protect both parties. Each party keeping a signed copy including relevant ID cards and passports, provide receipts for rental and security deposits from agency or owner if they have company.
Regardless of the last time the place was cleaned provide maids to bring it up to the best standard including full laundry of bedding, towels etc.
Check everything down to lightbulbs are working.
Provide a welcome package of basic items. Water, tea, coffee, milk and an information sheet with emergency numbers, taxi, local restaurants that deliver, brochures for local attractions and tour companies etc.
Have a team of people on call that will respond quickly to any issues that may arise and be available to organise anything that may need to be done
Have a good relationship with maintenance company as applicable.
Make sure all bills are paid.
When not occupied visit the property at least once a week, flush toilets, run taps, test aircon etc etc.
If you can organise all this yourself, and a few other things, then you will save the commission.

Get a good agent - [Mod edit: real estate links not permitted] - with great English speakers. BANZAI!!!!
Re: What is the best way of trying to rent our house long term
To avoid any confusion, perhaps the OP should have used the word 'let' rather than 'rent, i.e. owners let houses; tenants rent them.
