That's a very good point - I wonder how many of that ill-fated team still reside in Hua Hin. Actually, a really good effort - those Thai teams are good.

LOL, I was looking at the boats tied up at the lake today - how brave you all were getting into one of those, and to make it worse (more heroic) you did it on the Pranburi River. At least the lake at Khao Tao isn't very deep in the event one sinks.

I was in Khao Takiab this morning near the police box and one boat was being towed round the roundabout towards Petchakasem Road, presumably headed for Khao Tao.

Any confirmation about the Royal Barge or it's only a miniature ???

Two of the royal barges actually. Unfortunately not the real ones.
Suphannahong and Anantanakkharat. No idea if scale models or full size.

My wife just read the poster and she says although they are copies, they are full size and she, as other Thais, said there is no racing.

We went for an early visit this morning, before it gets busy (and it was very busy by 11:30 when we left. Dozens of boats, and of course the star attraction, the 2 Royal Barges looked beautiful. There was no racing while we were there but all boats were fully crewed, a course was set out on the lake, and there were many trophies. A few photos:

The thing I should have pointed out was that dragon boats are normally a very colourful event, but because of recent events, all crews, with the exception of the Royal Barges, were wearing black - so unusual.
