But online shopping may happen. In China a superb company opened up very reliable, amazingly fast delivery, sometimes same day in that huge country. If it becomes 'The Style" it could happen here very quickly.
I totally agree with this.

I think it is great to see Tesco Lotus upping their game a little following the opening of Blueport. I think the Blueport Gourmet Market is the best in town by far and now Tesco Lotus at Market Village have updated their grocery area a substantial amount. I also like the fact they have upgraded the fast food area in front of TL, it is now far better than the cheap and nasty set up that was there previously. Well done TL

Now, it's no secret what I think of shopping - I hate it. However, Mrs BB makes sure that I do my fair share. As I'm dragged around the various shops, I tend to people watch, more than look at what is on sale.

Yesterday I suffered stints in both Market Village (which is slowly picking up again since Bluport) and Bluport. The key difference was that people in Market Village invariably had at least one bag of shopping per group of people wandering around. Very few people in Bluport were carrying shopping.

Whilst in Bluport, I had one of those 'what would you do' moments. A young girl was walking in front of me, and it was just as well I was looking at her rather than the shops. Without realising it, she dropped a wad of money on the floor. I picked it up and called after her. She stopped, turned around and I asked if the wad I was handing to her was hers (I'd seen her drop it). She checked a bundle of papers she was carrying, and realised her money was no longer amongst it. She smiled, gave me a wai and a little curtsy, and said a Thai thank you as she took her money. I only glanced at the wad as I handed it over, and it comprised entirely 1,000 Baht notes - I don't know how many, but it felt like more than 5. Funny, if somebody had asked me what I'd have done if a wad had presented itself to me like that 10 minutes earlier I couldn't have said what I'd have done. It made me feel quite good handing it back.

For someone who hates shopping, you certainly do a lot of it...

I think this moral dilemma is easily resolved. You were stalking following this attractive young lady and saw her drop the money. Automatic reaction to call out and tell her, regardless of how much money. A whole different kettle of fish if you came across it a couple of minutes later without knowing whose it was - what would you do then...?
This is the way

Believe me, I really hate it, but I'm the driver/pack horse

Stalking is probably too strong a word :D . It was just coincidence that she was walking directly in front of me - honest

If I had found an ownerless pile of money, it's probably 50/50 what I'd have done. I honestly don't know. A purse or wallet with ID would significantly increase the probability of me handing it in.

Anyway, just an interesting thing that doesn't happen to me every day whilst being dragged around our local malls. :offtopic:

Agree with your moral decision BB (not talking about the stalking/walking   ). But if ownerless, and no id, I'd keep it, unless I saw who dropped it as you did  .

Absolutely, because if you just leave it some other "non owner" would no doubt pocket it, if you called out "who dropped this money", twenty people would come forward and if you turn it in to lost and found, it would quickly be "found" by the person working there...

But where do you handle it in and be sure that the real owner gets it? A security guard or a police? Hmm, maybe, maybe. Or am I just in a distrusting mode?

The last wallet we handed in had a lot of cards but not much cash. I must admit I was dubious about taking it to the police. In the end, the process was smooth, the police were very helpful and assured us it would find its owner due to the ID card.

Incidentally, Mrs BB picked up 5,000 Baht last week (we obviously keep our eyes open). There was ID, and she returned it to a very grateful owner. On the dark side, I picked up 4 x 1 Baht coins a few days ago, and kept the lot

Just a note on BB and his self-description as being a "Grumpy shopper" Its true when he walksaround the malls he has 'a grim really grumpy look to him. . But wave or speak tohim and a large smile will come your way--its just what American athletes call his "Game face" for shopping.

What's the official score of Market Village vs. Bluport?
- which one's better for clothes? (Assuming some of the Thai chains exist in both?)
- which one's better for groceries, especially fruit - I'd strongly assume gourmet market to win in terms of quality and variety, and also to lose on price.

Blueport parking bugs me at times! The parking indicators point you to 15 empty bays at the next turn only to find they are all blocked with reserved signs yet empty!!

At least Market Village lights the specials bays up blue instead of green.
