I've only eaten at Shiva twice as its a fair trek from where I live, but on both occasions the food was excellent and as you say, a very nice setting. The prices are what you expect to pay for good Indian food and definitely the best I have found in the HH area.dtaai-maai wrote:I went back to the 'Indian' at soi 80 yesterday for lunch for the first time in a long time. Wasn't impressed. Chicken Tikka Masala and Lamb Rogan Josh appeared to have same sauce, which was a tad sweet (according to my pal, can't say I noticed). No samosas Naan bread extremely non-naan. Raita rather thin.
Not outrageously expensive, but not particularly cheap either. I probably have an Indian every few months, but this one was a waste.
Back to Shiva for me. It has the added attraction of a beautiful garden environment, parking and not having to compete with traffic noise. [EDIT: Not to mention genuine Indian food cooked by genuine Indian [Nepalese?] people.]

Well have a "butchers" at Mehfil Indian restaurant in NaresDamri alley opposite the Hilton entrance. The 2 for the price of 1 draught beer option was what attracted me at a reasonable price and the meat Thali was a sure winner with a delicate balance of flavours unlike others around town. The setting is modern and the service is excellent and is set in a/c comfort. The ~240 Bht was good value and they say it is authentic Indian cuisine British style. Who am I too argue? A very definite must try for the local expats.
Re: Indian restaurants in Hua Hin
There's an Indian restaurant not long opened on the soy behind 9/11 by the rail crossing on 94. I've had a couple of curries from there now, including one this week. It's the best one I've eaten in Hua Hin by far, and at a very reasonable price. If your a curry lover it's a must try. Restaurant is called kwality.

Thanks for the heads up Matlot, I've seen the sign a few times and never got round to going down the Soi to see what they sold, I will do soon.

Must be very good then because by HH standards Shiva is pretty good, so looking forward to a visit to Kwality to try it outMatlot wrote:I've had SHIVA. This new one beats it by a long way, you should give it a go.

Kwality is a well known chain of Indian restaurants in India and here in the Middle East and beyond, producing good quality, very tasty food at reasonable prices. If this place is a franchise from the Indian operation, then it should be good and I look forward to trying it when I am back next

Just stopped by on my way home to check it's open tonight, spoke to the chef and he's a one man band, not part of any chain.aragon wrote:Kwality is a well known chain of Indian restaurants in India and here in the Middle East and beyond, producing good quality, very tasty food at reasonable prices. Re: Indian restaurants in Hua Hin
After such high recommendation (better than Shiva) I had every intention of trying this place with my son and his girlfriend this evening. I've just been on a recon visit with Mrs BB, and I couldn't see it.Matlot wrote:There's an Indian restaurant not long opened on the soy behind 9/11 by the rail crossing on 94. Now, when Matlot writes 9/11, I interpreted that to mean 7/11 - is that where we went wrong? Behind the 7-11 is the exit from Restaurant 94, then there were a couple of Thai looking places followed by Donkeys Rest. I could go on - we went as far as Soi 102.
Basically, can anybody pinpoint exactly where this place is please (I guess Pagey has found it), or is it going to be pizza tonight?

So down the road towards the swimming pool then. LOL, I'd never have found that - thank you.
[Edit] My son has to work late, so looks as though I'll hear a few more reviews before I go.

Sounds like the naughty boy is exploiting the name in hope of some undue brand recognition, however if the food's that good, what the hell, I'll still give it a go.Pagey wrote:Just stopped by on my way home to check it's open tonight, spoke to the chef and he's a one man band, not part of any chain.

Re: Indian restaurants in Hua Hin
Went last night and it was very busy, the food had a really good taste and you can order the spice level to suite your taste. We arrived the same time as two other big groups so the service was slow but the owner and chef were apologetic about the wait. We will go back. Oh and from soi 94 it is the turning before the Donkeys Rest and not the swimming pool one.
Re: Indian restaurants in Hua Hin
Any locals can give an update on the current 'best' indian? Been to a few of those mentioned, mostly good, but the threads been quiet for a while.
