At least one man is said to have died in the incident while countless others were injured by the sparks and crushed in the stampede as people tried to flee.........

This says it all, never attend a fireworks display unless the fireworks are on a barge well out to sea. Another nail in the coffin for Thailand.

One person died and dozens more were injured after fireworks rained down on people celebrating New Year’s Eve in Thailand.
At least one man is reported to have died at the famous Full Moon Party and dozens others were left with serious burns all over their bodies.
Other people were injured in a stampede as people tried to flee the burning sparks.

We were caught exactly like this at a Loy Krathong Festival in Roi Et about 20 years ago. We arrived at Bung Palan Chai Park, and looked for a good viewing point. It was a bank, with a lot of space when we arrived, but the bank soon filled up. As the event's fireworks started, it was exactly the same. There was a line of fireworks directly above us - it certainly made us move quick.
