I walk on the beach 3 or 4 afternoonsa week for an hour. I start at the inter-continental and walk either north to town or south to KT. I always carry a grocery bag on Mondays as there is usually many plastic bottles etc on the beach but generally it is very clean and ALL of the oil has gone. What amazes me is that we are here ina beach town and yet so few farang walk on the beach, I usually pass about 4 or 5 in an hour, mostly regulars. People move to a beach town and never go to the beach, go figure. Try it, even when it is baking hot in the late afternoon there is always a breeze off the sea.

I go on the beach every week. Some times for a run or a walk. I still notice some times when I have been for a run bits of oil on the soles of my feet. I ran last Thursday and when I had finished I had a big deposit of oil between my toes.

Also if you look there are still pastic bags being washed up coated in oil.

Its no where near as bad as it was but I would not say all the oil has gone.

The local Trash Heroes seem to ignore this forum with their weekly clean, but here's a Thai organised clean if anybody is interested.

23 Dec 16 @ 08:30. Meeting on the beach at the end of Soi 61 (between Hilton and Centara Grand). I guess all are welcome.

I support recycling, caring for the environment and the likes however I admit I have given up in Thailand. I take care of my own property and nothing else.
I no longer recycle as my Thai family and neighbors do not do it. I will not clean the beaches as Thais do not appreciate it and they do not keep the beaches clean.
As for Trash heros the Thais must be laughing their heads off, ha ha ha look at Farang cleaning beaches for us.

My family only go sporadically as we find the beaches to be dirty. Compared to a huge expanse like Surfer's Paradise in Australia, or even Phuket in Thailand, Hua Hin beaches fall well behind in the beach appeal stakes

Nelly I totally agree with you. In Melbourne, Adelaide and Surfers every day at 5am sand sifting machines are used to clean the beaches. In Thailand the locals do not care a sh*t what it looks like or is left like and that is why this Farang will never clean up after them.

OK, not the beaches, but I saw a large lorry going around the streets off Soi 94 the other day. There were about a dozen guys behind it sweeping the roads. Maybe somebody is getting the message.

yep they are slowly realizing that the Government and local authorities are supposed to keep their country clean, but really it is such a shame that it gets so dirty anyway

Next Hua Hin will be getting this, and look at those roads, no rubbish, no plastic bags etc.

I was walking along the beach past the Marriott where the horse people like to congregate now for customers. A male horse decided to release a never ending stream of urine onto the white sand. Lovely for the kids to play on.
