Asahi is a very respectable beer in Japan and I have no idea what happened to it, in the process of being produced under license here but, it appears that the recipie and brewing process was lost enroute. It's the difference of having a Dublin brewed Guinness and the very poor copy that comes from the Anchor Brewrey in Malaysia.it has the same name but nothing else.

'Beercycling' turns urine into brews

A Danish brewery is drawing on 50,000 litres of urine collected from the largest music festival in Northern Europe in producing a novelty beer aimed at the more adventurous drinker.

The beer named "Pisner" -- a word-play combining pilsner with local slang for urine -- contains no human waste, but is produced from fields of malting barley fertilised with human urine rather than traditional animal manure or factory-made plant nutrients.

"When the news that we had started brewing the Pisner came out, a lot of people thought we were filtering the urine to put it directly in the beer and we had a good laugh about that," said Henrik Vang, chief executive officer of brewer Norrebro Bryghus.

"Using human waste as fertiliser on such a scale is a novelty,'' said Denmark's Agriculture and Food Council, which came up with the idea for what could be the ultimate sustainable hipster beer and has already named the concept "beercycling".

"If it had tasted even a bit like urine, I would put it down, but you don't even notice," said Anders Sjögren, who attended Roskilde Music Festival in 2015.

The 50,000 litres collected from that festival resulted in enough malting barley to brew around 60,000 bottles of Pisner beer.

I hope this 'Craft Beer' revolution dies because all of the 'craft beers' I have tried in Thailand were horrible and they were all imported beers.

Many of the Craft Beers in Singapore are excellent - in particular for this climate some are light , good tasting and a little less alcohol proof.

We used to really like Brewerkz at Clark Quay when we lived in Singapore. We were there when they first opened, some really good beers and great buffalo wings, just a shame about the prices.......

Has anyone tried this new U beer that's just been released?
Am I going crazy or is there actually a half decent beer in Thailand now or is it just a case of in the land of the blind the one eyed man is king?

Read up the thread, both Federbräu and Asahi produce a nice flavour. Normally, I can't drink Thai beers, but they are both quite palatable to me.

I've had U Beer a few times...i think it's ok...
The trendy logo and being the same ish price as Leo/Chang i recon will make it a hit
with the young thais....if it was priced like Archers they'd probably not buy it...
MInd i drink anything...hahaha...miss the old chang classic though...
and all the other Changs / export / daught etc : )))
