A convicted drug dealer from the UK who has been on the run for nearly three years has been caught in Thailand.
Jonathan Moorby, from Stockton, County Durham, was arrested by Thai officers on an island near to Koh Samui on Monday after British police discovered he was staying at the popular tourist resort.
The 47-year-old had taken a one-way ticket to Thailand from Heathrow Airport in June 2014, shortly before he was due to stand trial for conspiracy to supply more than £1m of cocaine and amphetamines.

Seems long overdue with this creep. If you want to go on the run though......contact with family is a no-no.

Re: British Drug Kingpin Caught In Thailand
It was probably his son's mouth that got him busted and somebody grasses for reward.
I don't think the police would tail his son there even with a marker after three years.

Kendo I probably have some different thoughts on the matter
Looking at the original charge of conspiracy the proofs would require two or more persons to have participated. With an estimated street value of of a million pounds it certainly meets the criteria of a commercial quantity. That would certainly put him in the category of a principal.Considering the amount of narcotic involved it is highly unlikely that he is new to the business. Given it was only one Charge before the court (albeit quite a serious offence) there may be a number of other matters of interest to law enforcement they wish to discuss with him. Once his whereabouts became known the opportunity was presented to apprehend and extradite him to the UK. If his son or any of his former associates were of current active interest to law enforcement (habits rarely change)a simple electronic communication may well be his undoing. I would be quite suprised if he decides to fight the extradition process as it certainly would not be in his best interests now that his former associates are aware he is in custody. Be interesting to see the money trail he has been living on here or whether he has been 'enterprising' since his arrival

It does beggar the question as to why he was on bail in the first place. No tight conditions so he just takes a casual trip to the airport and takes the tourist route out of the country. You would really have to think carefully before you would allow the decision maker in this instance to even sit on a bench in the local kindergarten.
