While on the subject about "the footpath on the opposite side..!", why don't the authorities do something about the restaurants between Bintabaht and Soi 61 encroaching onto the pavement, on busy nights you spend most of the time walking on the road. That wouldn't be so bad but the road is supposed to be "oneway' running towards Burger King, and many motor bikes disregard this and go down the road in the wrong direction, very easy to step onto the road without looking behind you straight into the path of a bike going in the wrong direction.Big Boy wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2017 7:37 pm I have received the following as a message, and it makes some valid points.......
While all the focus is on the mess left behind once the r/rants have been 'cleared' on Poolsuk..maybe someone at the HH Amphur needs informing about the coils of loose electric cables strewn/left across the footpath on the opposite side..! They may even still be live..? But pedestrians have to step over them!
Again no-one seems to care what this town looks like anymore..only a few yrs ago there was a push for HH to be hailed as the 'Paradise City

I'm sometimes left wondering if it's not the big investors behind the shopping malls and hotels who are pushing to eradicate all the smaller open air eating places from the city.oakdale160 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2017 6:26 am To Nothappyjan
What's wrong with you? There are now 2 yes2 shopping malls. Streets, beaches who cares-- there are 2 shopping malls who knows there may be more to come. Condos and shopping malls that's how you judge a Thai city.

Their prices are higher and food not better, nor service.

East Square is currently open for something. Went past the other day and the green curtain was down and something was going on.

Re: Demolition of restaurants + shops in Poon Suk road
I was thinking of the old shopping mall, but as you said there are new ones all over the place.

The smaller casual eating places just as Night Market tourist stalls most likely do not pay tax or VAT so the government wants to get rid of them all.STEVE G wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2017 12:41 pmI'm sometimes left wondering if it's not the big investors behind the shopping malls and hotels who are pushing to eradicate all the smaller open air eating places from the city.oakdale160 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2017 6:26 am To Nothappyjan

OK, we're digressing a little, but that's going to be a very difficult road to go down. I doubt market traders get into the realms of tax or VAT, along with a high % of many other occupations. Do they close everything down? Methinks the revolution may be closer than we thoughtStevePIraq wrote: ↑Thu Jun 08, 2017 11:44 am The smaller casual eating places just as Night Market tourist stalls most likely do not pay tax or VAT so the government wants to get rid of them all.
Championship Plymouth Argyle 3 - 3 Preston NE (was 3-0 down after 48 minutes)
Points 12; Position 21

Re: Demolition of restaurants + shops in Poon Suk road
I would prefer permanent restaurants with reasonable tables and chairs,
and as well with (very important) reasonable toilets.
perhaps, if owners of that demolished restaurants will work together and relocate to a new place,
that will work - i think.
they have enough satisfied guests and friends, who will then follow them to a new location!
and
if also the demolished restaurants at the beach-side (near Hilton Hotel) will not find new places in HH-city,
that will end in sum in a large number of guests, who will then be lost to the HH-city
it was told, that obviously a new covered department store (shopping) is already being built next to the boat dock (pier).
Tourist do not want to go for shopping only - HuaHin has already empty shopping malls.

the old place (open-air) before building the colonade/east-square had been a good place to sit for dinner.

I have seen mention, with regards to stopping illegal land encroachment elsewhere, that one of the regimes main motivations behind it was that often they were a source of revenue to local politicians.StevePIraq wrote: ↑Thu Jun 08, 2017 11:44 amThe smaller casual eating places just as Night Market tourist stalls most likely do not pay tax or VAT so the government wants to get rid of them all.STEVE G wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2017 12:41 pmI'm sometimes left wondering if it's not the big investors behind the shopping malls and hotels who are pushing to eradicate all the smaller open air eating places from the city.oakdale160 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2017 6:26 am To Nothappyjan
