Loy Krathong comes early this year, early November. The date always varies concerning observance with November 3 (Friday) being the official date, but many areas including Bangkok seem to have celebrations planned for November 4. Check with your local authority concerning the date for your area. Pete

You gotta love the government junta here, lets give the people more holidays, but ban alcohol, smoking, vaping, fireworks, music, dancing girls, advertising, opening after midnight, inappropriate coloured clothing, full moon parties, gatherings of more than four people, chairs on beaches, food vendors on the street, and farting in public.
Go Thailand! Enjoy your extra days off!

Re: Thailand Calendar
2018 and going forward is the same as 2017:
1) The new King, Rama X birthday is on July 28 and is a national holiday.
2) The late King's birthday on December 5 remains a national holiday and celebrated on the following Monday if December 5 falls on a weekend. However, December 5 also remains as Father's Day regardless if it falls on a weekend or not.

Junta spokesman Col. Atisit Chaiyanuwat said the holiday would be observed on April 12 and April 16 this year since the official days – April 14 and April 15 – fall on a weekend.
