Here is the link on the high speed project only recently approved. It's aim is China with the first section from Bangkok to Nakhon Ratchisima (4 years) and yes the HS line will be 1.435 as opposed to the dual track system which will run on the current guage.

Spotted on Soi 94. Can the clever people work out what it says?
I see double tracks, raised tracks etc. A pipe dream, or reality?

It says (the text that I can see): Construction of double track railway Nakhon Pathom - Hua Hin.

Zoomed in a bit and it started in February and scheduled to take 36 months. It will be interesting to see how close it will be to the Hua Hin golf clubhouse.

Contractor is Sino Thai. Project to run 1 Feb 2561 (i.e. last month) for 36 months. Light blue is fence line; yellow is existing track; red is new track, including elevated track.

Crossed tracks with you. The fence to fence width is shown as 39.81m if that helps. How near is the clubhouse to existing track?Gregjam wrote:Zoomed in a bit and it started in February and scheduled to take 36 months. It will be interesting to see how close it will be to the Hua Hin golf clubhouse.

Hmmmm....... I've just come across this artists impression on the Internet. Looks as though the existing station will be decimated and many small traders gone.

That looks like an 'impression' of the High Speed link. The original track plus the new track is virtually non existent. Pretty sure that doesn't refer to the first graphic that was posted.

With an old chugger of a freight train? TIT.
I think the artist's impression shows what is left of the original station, together with the raised new station, similar to the newer stations around Bangkok.

Yeh hadn't noticed the 'chugger'. However, if it's correct then the new elevated track is way over (west) from the original track. Doesn't quite look right. Time will tell.
Re: Hua Hin dual-track rail project to go ahead
Judging by the two graphics they're building elevated tracks and having ground level dual tracks as well. Maybe the ground level will handle trains stopping at every station while elevated is for "express" services. Which track will freight use though?

Where will they get the hills, grass and pine trees?
Re: Hua Hin dual-track rail project to go ahead
Don't think hills are a problem around Hua Hin. But if the nearly 40m width is used for the entire project that's going to affect a lot of people that live quite close to the existing track. A bit skeptical that HH to Nakorn Pathom can be finished in 3 years.
