Re: Thai Airways to undertake maintenance of Rolls-Royce engines
Thai has had a big maintenance facility and testing platform for engines at U-Tapao for the past 15 years or so. When United was flying directly into Bangkok, Thai was contracted to do all their maintenance and repair work. However, there was a heavy presence of western engineers working directly for United on site. I imagine the same will apply for this Rolls-Royce program, at least during the first few years. Pete
EDIT: At the time and perhaps now, General Electric was the predominant engine on United aircraft.

GE have had a large facility on the Eastern seaboard for many years for engine parts overhaul. I used to work for another company not too far from Donmuang where we did refurb work on aero-engine parts. A lot of the business came from Thai, mainly for the GE engines which at the time was their mainstay.
