Re: Ink refill for.printer
The IT shop next door to 'The Baguette'. They seem to have a good stock.
Re: Ink refill for.printer
Probably, but not enough time.
Thanks Terry - that will enable me to kill two birds in one, I have never been to the Baguette, so I'll head up there tomorrow!

Re: Ink refill for.printer
Just to point out that the shop is next to the original Baguette, not the new one.

Something you may want to consider instead.
Laser printers have dropped so much in price that using inkjets does not make sense any more. A B/W laser is less than 2,000 baht, while colour is around the 5,000 baht mark. Cartridges are 1,000 ++ each (4 required) but non-OEM can be had for much less.
Don't worry if you need scan and fax services, you can still use the old inkjet. Just save the file and print on the laser.
You also won't have problems with the inkjet printer head drying up if not used for more than a few days...

But how long do they last as compared to an ink jet? I really can't tell you how many pages I get out of my Canon inkjet, but the official cartridges are around 650 Baht If I remember correctly and there are 5. 3 coloured and 1 black plus one large black used only for B/W printing.

There's another thing they do here, similar I guess to converting your gasoline driven car to LPG tanks! It seems they can fit some kind of multi compartment reservoir that holds all of your ink in much larger quantities therefore lasting longer and cheaper to buy. My understanding is that this thing sits outside of your printer somewhere, and not sure if it is attached to the printer with anything but the hoses running to the print heads? I think most shops where you can buy printers can do this conversion, but I've never been brave enough to try it. Pete

Re: Ink refill for.printer
500 pages apparently. I've had ink tanks retrofitted on the inkjet, but while they may save a bit on ink, once the printer head dries up you still have to replace it. I won't bother to do it. Service each time was an average of 800 baht not including the ink refill so when this inkjet finally gives up the ghost I'm not replacing it with another.
Quality wise laser printer much better.
Inkjet usage (especially large intricate jobs) get smudged and messy..
As for the OP I guess it's still cheaper at this stage to continue with the inkjet, just run it at least once a week to keep the nozzles clean and free flowing. You don't have this problem with laser printers.

Re: Ink refill for.printer
Thanks for all the advice. My printing needs are quite minimal really and this is the first time since buying the printer that I have had to change the ink. I haven't had any issues with anything drying up to be honest, so based on that, I'll just carry on as before. Thanks again.

Re: Ink refill for.printer
That one always confuses me also. I guess I change cartridges about once a year, but never had drying up as a problem.

Re: Ink refill for.printer
Hua Hin DotCom sells and retrofits ink tanks to existing printers. I bought from then a Canon MP287 multiprinter with side tanks many, many years ago. I've been ever since printing neighbours photos and the ink lasts forever. Should I ever replace, I'd buy another Canon multiprinter with ink tanks. See here:

Re: Ink refill for.printer
I thought all printers had these external tanks these days. I have an Epson bought some years ago. It runs on wifi so it can be placed out of the way. Copy/Scan/photo print etc. A 'connect' feature which allows you to print something remotely.
I refilled the tanks just a few months ago. It lies unused for long periods but it has a head cleaning facility in the software which works well. It it's really clogged, then you can use a 'flushing' option. This literally flushes ink through the jets. It does degrade the 'waste ink pads' but never been a problem yet.
Should I ever have to replace it, I'd definitely buy the same again.
