Is there a Hua Hin resident who prepares US tax returns?

Just a thought-- a CPA told me something, the day before the last date for filling, that I like--- You will not be punished for stupidity, you with not be punished for bad arithmetic--you will be punished for fraud and most of all for not filling. So if in doubt send them a semi-completed badly filled in return with an apology note with several spelling and grammatical mistakes. I did just that and got a refund.

If it was your home then no filing is necessary although if the escrow company filed a 1099 the IRS may question you. If your retirement, and other income is less than $25,000 then your social security is not taxable. If so and the retirement is less than $13,250 ($14,800 if 65 or older) then no need to file. If more then you are supposed to file.

The IRS (at least most of them) is a business and they rarely take anything personal. If you do owe taxes there could be a late payment penalty and interest owed assessed.
