There's major road work in the Soi 114/116 area. A few weeks ago the roads were in a terrible condition. Since I'm not in Hua Hin at the moment, I would appreciate reports on how the work progress.
Including a few photos from the beginning of March.
I live just round the corner from soi 114 and the whole area is a nightmare. I would have thought they would have phased the development but they seem to be tackling the whole area at the same time.
I've had to move my vehicles for the last couple of days as we were 'cut off'.
On the plus side, after being promised this for years, we are now going to get some decent roads with decent drainage. The drains they're installing are large (unlike some of the pipework installed in other areas) and installed on both sides of the soi. Trees have been removed to allow widening of the roads. It's going to take a while but the end result will be worth the hassle. The roads will be concrete rather than tarmac so everything looks good.
I don't know when you'll be back, but if it's in the next couple of months, don't expect any miracles.

Thanks four your reply! I really appreciate further reports on the progress. I'm sure it will be fine when finished. I remember Soi 91 and Soi 97 a few years ago, quite a nightmare. Both are really nice now so have hope.
There is progress being made but it's weeks/months away from completion. Drains are still being laid. No access to 116, except via Petchkasem, most days. So far I've had 3 power cuts and as they packed up for Songkran they managed to sever an internet cable. Fortunately, despite it being Songkran, 3BB were out the following morning to re-attach the cable.
On a brighter note, Petchkasem from 112 to 116 is pretty much complete. The road has been widened and resurfaced.
The box-shaped concrete drainage channel is now complete from where it starts near the Olive restaurant, up the hill past Busaba, Sanuk, Hua Na Village, Gulf Village road, Wat Khao Yai, White Lotus main entrance and stops at the Y that goes up to Valentine Resort. They are now constructing the section that runs from Wat Puttachaiyo, past the Meditation Center, Sauna and Sandot 3 to the Valentine road Y. They are roughly 50% complete with this section, I think both sections will eventually join at the Valentine Y.
Everything is done, it’s a beautiful wide paved road and drainage systems seem to be working fine. The individual mubans have been left to install their own concrete entrances, in some cases the city is directing the contractor to fix these issues, in others a 10,000 baht payment gets it done. Per the city there is a one year warranty period for contractor to fix issues. Traffic has mostly been driving at sane speeds, but a speed bump or two may still be needed.
114 to 7/11 was done some years ago although it's falling apart and needs repairs to subsidence quite regularly. The new roads stop at 114 and considering the cost (a million quid in English) you would have thought that the new road would meet the old road. Nah. It arrived at 114 several inches above the old road so now you have a tarmac ramp when travelling up soi 1 to meet the new roads.
