A new alternator & battery was recently installed and afterward the check engine oil light stays on. The oil is full.
Any relation between alternator installation and light being on?
Thanks gents.

Re: Auto Electrical Problem
What car is it. Older cars it may just be a wire off, more modern cars with some form of ECU may need to have a fault cleared using a test book / laptop.handdrummer wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 12:45 pm A new alternator & battery was recently installed and afterward the check engine oil light stays on. It's way older than that. 1984 Mercedes sedan 190E. A wire off sounds reasonable. I'll have it checked. Thanks.

Re: Auto Electrical Problem
To answer your question: no, it should not have anything to do with alternator. Usually there is a small pressure switch that closes when there is no oil pressure, and opens therefore the light off, when pressure builds up. maybe the switch is bad.

Re: Auto Electrical Problem
Could be faulty low oil pressure gauge or oil pump best to get checked out and you will need merc parts best of luck.
