New window suction pad for my Kenwood dash cam

Post by CBinmore »

Hello,
After many years of good service I need a new window suction pad for my Kenwood KCA - DR300 dash cam, can anyone tell me where I can get this fixed in Hua Hin? Thank you.
Colin.

I very much doubt you'll be able to get the suction cup as it is an integral part of the mount itself. I have binned a couple of dash cams partly because of this. The other reason to bin the dash cam is when the internal battery is unable to maintain the time and date settings.
If you still want to continue and use this, I would suggest gluing a flat bit of plastic to the base, then use 3M removable tape to attach it to the windscreen.
The third option would be to migrate to a front/rear dual camera system, though I have seen 4 channel ones entering the market. I don't think gps is a necessity for a dash cam but that is just my opinion.

There are dozens of different size and shape suction mounts for mobile phones. Most of them have a multi fit clamp for the phone which could be used to hold the camera. Or cut of the complete suction cup and glue it in place of the existing old one.

Most places on 3rd floor Market Village will sell you a new replacement mount.

Have a look at the mounts on Lazada. My dashcam originally came with a suction cup which never worked for long. I purchased a mount that fits on the rear view mirror. It came with 4 or 5 different fittings for different cams which was a bit of a waste. Anyhow, it's lasted now for 2 or 3 years without ever having to touch it.

The climate in Thailand is a killer for anything rubber. Perishes so quickly...
Have lost countless trainers, boots, motorcycle armour inserts....
