"Consistent and appropriate to the current situation"

What situation please?

If Covid-19, does this not force more people into the same space in a lesser time?

Probably more to do with fewer customers = less profit and less need to pay employees to stand around doing nothing.
I was in Bangkok last week and Paragon was empty. I rode the escalators alone, there were 4 people in the bookshop and every employee, everywhere, was standing or sitting doing nothing.

The virus affecting numbers visiting Malls - lack of customers - is what I have just been told.

Kinokuniya. As far as I know, there's only that one and Asia Books in Paragon.

Many thanks. I go to their store in Emquartier, which is very large (there is also one in Central World). Makes Asia books look like a comic shop by comparison.

Good description.

Do you know Book Depository? Online, new & used books, good prices & free shipping. It takes about 10 days & if Thai postal "loses" the book, Book Depository will replace it free. The have a large selection and many subjects.
