How is Buckley Bar doing?

Post by Gus »

When I left Hua Hin in December 2018, Buckley Bar was about to open on the corner where Tropical massage shop was, opposite El Murphys.
How is it doing, one year on?
I think it was going to be run as a bar with occasional ladies available rather than a full on girlie bar.
Interestingly, Walking St in Pattaya and Soi Cowboy in Bangkok appear to have some social drinking bars and less girlie bars.

When it opened a year ago I didn't fancy it's chances - it looked far too sterile and soulless, and appeared to have more staff than customers. It felt in the wrong place for a bar like that.

I'm back in a couple of days - I won't be surprised if a Bar 4 Sale sign has appeared..

I have walked past it a few times and never felt the urge to go in. Its mostly empty with no girls only the bar staff.

I think the owners thought that the old bar was off the beaten track, hence the new bar, but.....

It cannot be easy running any business that relies on Farangs for a revenue stream these days, it seems it is only the Indians and Chinese who are coming to Thailand in any numbers.

If that's the case, how are they getting here?

At the BKK immigration queue last night (after arriving on an Air China flight) those queuing were about 70% european.

Will check out Buckley's tonight..

The old place was favored by Aussies. Good crowd for "Rules" and rugby.

By low cost airlines landing at Don Muang....Nightmare place to fly in and out of.

I only spend a few weeks a year in HH so I am not as qualified as some to comment about the Chinese and Indians coming to Thailand.
I have never seen many in HH, however, other forums say there are many going to Pattaya and Bangkok.
The Ruskies thought that HH was a good option for a takeover but that never really happened.
I think HH is unique, and let's hope it stays that way.

From a few lads that live in HH they say Buckley’s and many bars are doomed, a few open with very little punters, maybe waiting on the Chinese to warm the bar stools? Not likely never seen any in a bar anywhere in Thailand. As for Buckley’s bar I won’t lose any sleep if he fails. Went into his earlier bar to watch the nrl g/f a few years ago with a few mates. Got there early settled in. Then the owner who I won’t name asked us to move to a smaller tv so his friends could watch AFL? We complained but he insisted. Check bin. Never set foot in his bar again. The bar their now called the roof bar is quiet but really nice staff

I'm guessing you are from a State North of the VIC border and his mates were from the South 😂

Spot on there however we had been in his bar for about 40 minutes, his mates then roll up and we get asked to move?
