My list is way too long to mention so here are some of my musical influences through the decades....

60's

The Beatles (cough cough Pharvey and Lindosfan)
I was not even the glint in my Old Man's eye during the time of the Beatles, though they should be mentioned considering the songs I enjoy. As should "Wings", "Paul" & "John" et. al....

Did you omit Bobby Crush, Richard Clayderman and Liberace out of embarrassment?  :duck:
No - why would I be embarrassed with any music I enjoy - are you?

Have to say, I've classed him as one of (if not the) best guitarists of all time - but not a group or solo artist...

Like I said, one of (if not) the best guitarists of all time.... My apologies RE: "Double Trouble", that said - I referred to "Rush" as a group, not group members (and founder) Geddy Lee or Alex Lifeson as great guitarists - both highly respected by Stevie Ray.

Sateeb, I preferred the Rolling stones to the beatles, first saw the stones in a pub in Richmond I think 1962.
Another band Led Zeppelin were very good
Blondie and Nancy Sinatra with boots and mini skirts
Back in the late 50s and 60s song many good singers and bands, for me the best times ever for music.
Woke up this morning breathing that's a good start to the day.

Yes, and it's a bit disappointing that no one has mentioned Lonnie Donegan...

Well, I'm there also but the Stones are still putting out music even now, maybe that's why..

There's masses I could add to my list that no-one will agree with. Hence the title "YOUR A to Z....". Stuff everybody else, our own opinion and choice - not who's the best.....

Have to say though, I'm glad I started the thread as I've now got a huge list and masses to download.. or not (perhaps not Richard Clayderman)!!! So thanks all for the responses :D  :thumb: KEEP THEM COMMING!!

You've just reminded me that I have a huge soft spot for Charles Aznavour and, to a lesser extent, Jacques Brel. French songs can be a bit cumbersome, but they can also be a real performance.

This may be a controversial decision but I'd like to throw Billie Eilish into the mix. Yes, she's a teenie bopper sensation, and her more marketed songs like Bad Guy are pretty shite, but some of the others I really like. Granted the videos may not be to everyone's taste ( ) but I think her whispery voice is stunning. Damn beautiful track!

Current one that I like these days is Andra Rieu, plays some wonderful music, sometimes a surprise old pop song.
