There is certainly a dialysis unit. Facebook:cookie102 wrote:Can anybody advise if Dialysis is available at Hua Hin Hospital and if so how much per session.

In thai.
Ignore the map. It'll take you to a little Soi in Ang Nam area.
Re: Kidney Dialysis in Hua Hin
I followed hhinner's link, and I think it is suggesting Hua Hin Hospital 3.
A bit more digging, and this image (bottom) seems to confirm it. There is a phone number on the image also.

Actually the Facebook link has the phone number and address (though not complete, so fooled Google maps) of the main hospital. So, well sleuthed to find HHH 3 also has a dialysis unit.Big Boy wrote:I followed hhinner's link, and I think it is suggesting Hua Hin Hospital 3.

Out of curiosity where does it suggest HHH 3?

If you click the avatar.
[Edit] For various reasons, I am quite familiar with Hua Hin Hospital, and didn't recognise the uniforms. This prompted me to delve further.

Thanks. That's the page with 7 year old posts? Something about going to open a new unit at HHH 3.
I think there must be two units then, at the opposite ends of town.

Possibly, but I still don't recognise those uniforms
Actually, thinking hard about it, my wife was put into the kidney unit at Hua Hin Hospital last year when there was a bed shortage (5th floor, Yellow Building). She wasn't there for a kidney problem, just the bed. When I saw the OP, it rang a bell, but I knew none of my family had such problems. I remember because I had always thought dialysis was a very complex procedure involving special machines. I was quite surprised when I realised what was going on all around us.
So yes, Hua Hin Hospital does appear to have 2 kidney units. However, that doesn't help with availability/cost.

Re: Kidney Dialysis in Hua Hin
cookie102, I know absolutely nothing about the dialysis procedure, or what happens in the rest of the world. However, this is Thailand, and relatives were heavily involved in the procedures, with nurses available if required. Just be prepared, if that isn't what you are used to.
NB: It isn't just dialysis but patient care in a public hospital in general. If somebody had told me my wife would be admitted at 10pm, the nurses would get her wired up to various machines, but they then the handed me this giant syringe and told me I had to administer 4ml at 2am and 6am, I would have laughed; but it happened, and my wife has made a full recovery. Scary at the time though. I've talked to a cousin in the UK who is a ward sister, and she was amazed at the stuff relatives are expected to do in a public hospital here. However, it works, and frees up the nurses to do the clever stuff. There's always a nurse close by if you do something wrong.

Re: Kidney Dialysis in Hua Hin
Thanks very much everyone. I can now look further into it.
At the moment I do not need it but will in time to come and have been told that I will need 4 hours 3 times a week so pretty intrusive.
I do not live full time in Hua Hin but normally travel from the UK about 4 times a year for a month at a time so it will make a big difference to my life but with the information that you have all managed to get has put my mind at ease.
